This is why I tutor and teach.

I am currently working with a Year 2 boy, who loves animals. I decided to use the book ‘One day on our blue planet - in the Savannah’ in my English session with him. We worked on researching facts about lions and recording them, using Year 2 conjunctions (and,but,so, or, then, if, that, because) to extend sentences, and we looked at information sheets to identify the features and layout of this type of writing. This culminated in him writing an information page on lions, which included all he had learnt (see a picture of his work below- he has very neat handwriting and excellent spelling skills so this was not something I needed to work on with him).
He enjoyed his lessons and was motivated because they incorporated something he was interested in.
