Fantastic info about the sinuses. I do find the sinus reflexes show up a lot in reflexology ๐Ÿ˜ณ

The frontal sinuses are one of four pairs of paranasal sinuses. They are small, air-filled cavities embedded in the frontal bone (forehead) just above the eyes. Mucus is produced there and they play an important role in fighting infection. Unfortunately, these sinuses get inflamed and clogged pretty readily, creating a lot of pain and pressure. Because of the already poor ability to move mucus out of the sinuses via the choanae, sinus infection symptoms can often persist even after treatment. That's where sinus pumping techniques come into play. In cranial osteopathy, there's a great technique that involves creating a rhythmic motion between the frontal bone and the nasal bones. This motion can help draw the fluid out of the sinuses, allowing it to drain out and into the throat. Clients will often feel the contents running down their throat when they stand up; a sensation that is simultaneous really weird and incredibly satisfying. It's not an easy move to do to one's self, so as a consolation prize, I've included a video on sinus massage to tide you over until you get a chance to find a good cranial practitioner. https://rfr.bz/f8y0i01

Thank you Healthy Street ๐Ÿ˜Š

๐Ÿ”ˆ SURFACE ANATOMY OF FOOT

The tendons in the ankle region can be identified satisfactorily only when their muscles are acting. If the foot is actively inverted, the tendon of the tibialis posterior may be palpated as it passes posterior and distal to the medial malleolus, then superior to the sustentaculum tali, to reach its attachment to the tuberosity of the navicular. Hence, the tibialis posterior tendon is the guide to the navicular. The tendon of the tibialis posterior also indicates the site for palpating the posterior tibial pulse (halfway between the medial malleolus and the calcaneal tendon.

The tendons of the fibularis longus and brevis may be followed distally, posterior and inferior to the lateral malleolus, and then anteriorly along the lateral aspect of the foot. The fibularis longus tendon can be palpated as far as the cuboid, and then, it disappears as it turns into the sole. The fibularis brevis tendon can easily be traced to its attachment to the dorsal surface of the tuberosity on the base of the 5th metatarsal. This tuberosity is located at the middle of the lateral border of the foot. With toes actively extended, the small fleshy belly of the extensor digitorum brevis may be seen and palpated anterior to the lateral malleolus. Its position should be observed and palpated so that it may not be mistaken subsequently for an abnormal edema (swelling).

The tendons on the anterior aspect of the ankle (from medial to lateral side) are easily palpated when the foot is dorsiflexed:

โ€ข The large tendon of the tibialis anterior leaves the cover of the superior extensor tendon, from which level the tendon is invested by a continuous synovial sheath; the tendon may be traced to its attachment to the 1st cuneiform and the base of the 1st metatarsal.
โ€ข The tendon of the extensor hallucis longus , obvious when the great toe is extended against resistance, may be followed to its attachment to the base of the distal phalanx of the great toe.
โ€ข The tendons of the extensor digitorum longus may be followed easily to their attachments to the lateral four toes.
โ€ข The tendon of the fibularis tertius may also be traced to its attachment to the base of the 5th metatarsal. This muscle is of minor importance and may be absent.

Who are IRSA? (Independent Reflexology Schools Association)

IRSA is a group of independent reflexology schools, specialists in reflexology training, many of whom have been teaching the therapy to the highest standards for over thirty years. Our aim is to impart knowledge gained over those years, teaching with the freedom afforded by independence.

The world is continually changing, and with it, the needs of reflexologists and their training. IRSA believes that schools should be able to adapt freely and quickly to those required changes.

With independent courses, offered by IRSA member schools, you can be assured that the training you will receive has been tailored to the needs of our students not the requirements to fit a level.

Ever wondered what the nerval connection between your brain and your arms looks like? You can see it in this awesome photograph of the so called brachial plexus :)

The brachial plexus is responsible for cutaneous and muscular innervation of the entire upper limb except for the trapezius muscle and an area of skin near the axilla. It is the pathway for every informational exchange between your brain and the muscles of your arms and hands.

Lesions thus of course lead to severe functional impairment of the upper extremity. Cutting the brachial plexus would be like cutting a cable to an electric device, no information from the brain/power supply would reach the device.

The brachial plexus is divided into Roots, Trunks, Divisions, Cords, and Branches. It makes it kind of rough to learn but the organization of this nerval structure is amazing!

Here is a schematic illustration of the brachial plexus:

When it comes to learning Reflexology, some are of the opinion that a qualification is more important than the training. We say the quality of your training is by far the most important factor in your future success.

If you are wanting to train to become a reflexologist in order to practice this great therapy, then course content and the quality provided by your training provider are by far the most important factor in your long-term success. A greater percentage of time spent in practical training is vital.

A growing number of the highest profile schools are moving away from the constraints placed on training by the regulated system in an effort to raise standards and making the needs of students our absolute priority.
