Do you work in the hospitality and tourism sector? We have an online Spanish for Tourism and Hospitality course planned (ENQ6111) starting on 6 November from 10am – 12noon. Whether you work in a hotel, holiday park, campsite, visitor attraction, café, restaurant, tourist information centre, holiday cottage, or any other customer-facing role, this 5-week course will introduce you to useful Spanish vocabulary and everyday expressions to help you welcome and assist Spanish-speaking visitors with greater confidence and ease.

Celebrating Art for Wellbeing for the Aspire Learners

Over the past week the Aspire learners have been completing some art for wellbeing. This has included subjects such as ceramics and printmaking.

These activities have helped the learners build confidence and communication skills. It’s been wonderful to see them develop new skills and independency, alongside witnessing the encouragement between the group whilst they try new skills, and all of them taking pride in what they are accomplishing during their journey so far.

The Aspire group have been learning about key areas, such as staying safe online - something that is important for us all. This is balanced with outdoor aspects, such as embarking on a nature walk to collect leaves for an autumnal display.

The Animal Care group have been learning about the importance of safety around animals.

The gardening project is in the planning stage to make the centre more attractive to visitors and learners, which is very exciting! Hopefully as time goes on, we will have some pictures of this to share with you.

The Aspire programme is a flexible and individual approach to engage young people aged up to the age of 24 with and Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP).

Our aim is to re-engage young people into different bespoke pathways to help them gain qualifications and progress into further education or employment. This individual flexible approach ensures each individual has the opportunity to bloom and thrive.

New date for a popular course so still time for all you budding artists in the Bodmin area to apply.

Award in Drawing and Painting L1 (EBO6007) is now planned for Tuesday 17 November and runs for 24 weeks from 1 – 4 pm. This is a broad course where we cover a number of different drawing and painting techniques including, for example, charcoal, pastels, watercolours and acrylics. Each activity will have a different focus including tonal shading, colour mixing, direct observation, and expressive mark making.

These courses could be free if you are economically inactive with no benefits, unemployed and on a means tested benefit or have an annual gross income from paid employment under £28,210.00

Cornwall Hospice Care’s bid for the Guinness World Record for the Largest Cornish Tea Party was a huge success, with an incredible 2,482 people enjoying cream teas at the Royal Cornwall Showground. The event saw Cornwall take the record from a previous holder in Beijing, proving once and for all that Cornwall knows how to do cream teas best! A huge thank you to Dionne, Michele and Britt from Cornwall Adult Education, who volunteered to support the day and help make the event such a success.
