✨Spotlight✨ - the Kleio Quartet

Having recently welcomed two new members, award-winning Chamber Studio Fellows Kleio Quartet have not taken their foot off the pedal as we draw near to the end of the 2025/26 season. The quartet were invited to perform in St Leonards Concerts five year anniversary celebrations, bringing us a thrilling rendition of Chausson's Concert for Violin, Piano and String Quartet, Op.21, featuring Junyan Chen on violin and Max Baillie on piano.
Soon the group concludes their season, appearing on the stage three times at the Edinburgh International Festival. There, they will be performing music from the likes of Schubert and Bartok.

It has been wonderful to see the Kleio Quartet develop into the group it is today over the past five years that they have been part of the Chamber Studio community. They have received regular coaching from John Myerscough during this period, most recently through our Fellowship programme, and benefited from our Visiting Professor series, gaining valuable one-to-one time with world-class musicians Jonathan Biss & Gábor Takács-Nagy. We are excited to see how the Kleio Quartet thrives in the next chapter of their international career.

✨Spotlight✨ - the Kyan Quartet

This weekend, the fantastic Kyan Quartet are welcomed back to Enys Chamber Music Festival. After last night's captivating performance, including works from Debussy, Schulhoff, Brahms & Perinpanathan, the quartet will take to the stage once more tomorrow to collaborate with other world-class musicians in the festival's grand finale. The evening will feature Debussy's Prélude à l'Après-midi d'un faune, Tchaikovsky's Souvenir de Florence and Mozart's Clarinet Concerto in A major, K.622 with principal clarinetist of the BBC Concert Orchestra, James Gilbert, as the soloist.

The Kyan Quartet have been active members of the Chamber Studio community since 2022, when they became one of our chosen groups for the inaugural Hans Keller Forum series, working with musicians such as John Myerscough. Since then, it has been a pleasure to see the quartet's international, award-winning career flourish, whilst still making use of Chamber Studio coaching. They benefited from a series of masterclasses with Sini Simonen last summer and this year enjoyed a mentorship with Chamber Studio's own Donald Grant.

The quartet also had the privilege of being joined by the festival's artistic director Denis Brott to form a quintet for Schubert's Quintette in C major, Op.163.

The Barbican Quartet has benefited frequently from Chamber Studio's Mentorship scheme and Visiting Professor series over the years, bringing them access to world-class musicians such as Eberhard Feltz, David Waterman and the late David Watkin (pictured above) for professional coaching.
