🐥 Ducklings Class – What a Wonderful Start!

What a superb start to their learning journey at Lanivet our Ducklings have had! Our youngest learners have had an incredibly busy first half term, settling beautifully into school life and embracing every new experience.

📚 From learning their RWI phonics and developing their early maths skills to discovering the magic of Drawing Club, the children have been busy building the foundations for a love of learning. They have particularly adored exploring a range of wonderful stories, with Room on the Broom proving to be a firm favourite!

✏️ Every day brings opportunities to develop their fine motor skills and strengthen their gross motor skills, helping them build the coordination, control and muscles they need as they grow and learn.

🍂 The children have also been exploring the wonders of autumn, discovering the changes happening in the world around them and learning all about this beautiful season.

We are so proud of how beautifully our Ducklings have settled into life at Lanivet. They have shown such enthusiasm, curiosity and confidence as they begin their school adventure.

Well done, Ducklings! You are a fabulous addition to our school family, and we can't wait to see all the wonderful things you achieve next!

⛏️ Otters Class Discover Cornwall’s Mining Heritage!

Otters Class have been exploring the fascinating history of tin mining in Cornwall!

The children discovered how mining shaped our local towns and villages, supported Cornwall’s economy and influenced the lives of generations of families. They also learnt about the challenges communities faced when the mines closed.

Their learning came to life during a visit to Geevor Tin Mine, where they got to see historic machinery and experience walking underground in the mine itself.

A fantastic opportunity to bring history to life and develop a deeper appreciation of Cornwall’s rich mining heritage! Well done, Otters!

⛏️ Puffins Class Explore Geevor Tin Mine!

Puffins Class had a fantastic adventure at Geevor Tin Mine, bringing their learning about Cornwall’s mining heritage to life!

The children explored a section of the mine underground, had a go at crushing and splitting ore, and discovered what life was really like for the miners who worked there.

The excitement continued as they tried their hand at gem panning, uncovering sparkling treasures to take home. There were plenty of smiles and some very full pockets on the journey back! 💎

A wonderful day of hands-on learning, discovery and history. Well done, Puffins!

Here are just a few highlights!

English: Bringing characters to life through expressive descriptions, ambitious vocabulary and impressive punctuation.

Maths: Tackling huge numbers up to 10,000,000 and becoming experts in factors, multiples, square, cube and prime numbers!

Science: Becoming light investigators! From exploring reflection and refraction to discovering how rainbows form, the children have been full of curiosity and scientific thinking.

History: Digging into Cornwall’s fascinating tin mining heritage, brought to life through their memorable visit to Geevor Tin Mine.

Art: Creating eye-catching townscapes inspired by the distinctive style of L. S. Lowry, experimenting with perspective, horizons and vanishing points.

🌟 Reminder: Healthy Body Day – Tomorrow! 🌟

Just a little reminder, following on from our email, that tomorrow is Healthy Body Day!

At Lanivet School, our curriculum is built around three golden threads: Healthy Body, Healthy Mind and Healthy Planet 🌍💚 These help us teach the children the importance of looking after ourselves, our minds and the world around us.

👟 What to wear tomorrow:

* Children should wear their school uniform and PE shoes/trainers.
* Children who have earned a non-uniform reading award can still wear their non-uniform to celebrate their fantastic achievement, along with their trainers! 📚🎉

We have lots of exciting activities planned to help the children explore ways to keep their bodies healthy. We’re looking forward to a fantastic day full of movement, learning and fun! 🏃‍♀️💪😊
