Hello and welcome to the new academic year 26/27! 🥳

We’re giving our parents/carers community a little bit of a bird theme this year! 🦉🐦🐣

This page is for all our parent/carers, whether your young person has already left us, is currently studying with us or is thinking about joining us in the future.

So, which flock are you part of? 👀🤔

🦉 OWLS: Parent/carers/family of our alumni and former students. (Posts every Monday)

🐦 KINGFISHERS: Parent/carers/family of our current students enrolled at The Blackpool Sixth Form College (Posts every Wednesday)

🐣 ROBINS: Parent/carers/family of new or potential students. (Posts every Friday)

Each week, we’ll share three different topics, one for each flock. So you can easily find the information most relevant to you and your young person.

From careers and next steps to college life, opportunities, advice and everything in between, we’re here to support YOU throughout your child/wards journey.

So whether you’re an 🦉 Owl, a 🐦 Kingfisher or a 🐣 Robin…

Welcome to the flock! 💛

For parents & carers 💙

Results Day can bring a whole mix of emotions; pride, excitement, relief and sometimes a little uncertainty about what happens next.

At Blackpool Sixth, we want our students and their families to know that Results Day isn't the end of our support.

Whether your young person is heading to university, starting an apprenticeship, moving into employment or is still working out their next step, they don't have to navigate it alone.

Our students can access up to one year of careers support after leaving Blackpool Sixth, so if plans change, applications don't work out or they simply need some guidance, we're still here.

Simply email [email protected] to book an appointment 📨

Today is about celebrating how far they've come and reminding them that whatever comes next, they have people in their corner.

Congratulations to the Class of 2026, 🥳

We couldn't be prouder! 🎓

Has your child/ward just finished their exams and not sure what their next steps are?

If they have left college having studied Business, Economics, Maths, Further Maths, Accountancy or Politics and don't have your next steps in September 2026, they should consider applying to this higher apprenticeship.

MHA, based in Preston, is recruiting for a Level 4 Financial Planning Apprentice. This is a brilliant opportunity to work and train at the same time! They are looking for students who have just finished at college for this three year opportunity.

What a great day for our uppers last day at The Blackpool Sixth Form College 🫶

It was a bitter sweet day. 2 years of ups, downs, tears, laughter, "what now's?" and "You've got this"

And we were there at the end to remind them, they're not on their own. They still have 12 months of 1:1 career support....

Yes, face to face advice and guidance for another whole year, PLUS access to our LinkedIn alumni network.

I'm super proud of our year 13's. They were my first cohort at this college and it has been a pleasure to support them 🫂

Thanks to Laura from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) for her help today with CV's and next steps 💜

I'm excited to see their next steps and welcome them back with open arms as aluminium, supporting the next generation 👏🏻
