🎉 School's Out for Summer! ☀️

As we come to the end of another wonderful school year, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our families and children for their support, enthusiasm, and hard work throughout the year.

To our students, you should be incredibly proud of everything you have achieved. Your kindness, resilience, creativity and determination have made this year so special and it has been a pleasure to watch you learn, grow and succeed. Every one of you has helped make our school a happy and vibrant place to be.

To our families, thank you for your continued support and partnership. Your encouragement, trust and involvement are greatly appreciated and play such an important role in helping our children flourish.

A special message goes to our Year 8 students as they prepare to leave us and begin the next exciting chapter of their journey. It seems like only yesterday that many of you first joined our school and we are incredibly proud of the young people you have become. As you move on to new schools, new opportunities and new adventures, take with you the confidence, friendships and memories you have made here. We wish you every success and happiness for the future and hope you will always remember that you will remain an important part of our school family.

We hope everyone enjoys a well deserved summer break filled with fun, laughter, adventure and precious time together. Take the opportunity to rest, recharge and create wonderful memories with family and friends.

🌟 A Special Farewell Visit from the CEO of the Wessex Learning Trust, Gavin Ball 🌟

We were delighted to welcome Mr Ball to Hugh Sexey's as part of his farewell tour.

During a special assembly, our pupils shared heartfelt words of thanks and appreciation, reflecting on the positive impact Mr Ball has had on our community. They also sang a wonderful song, making the occasion even more memorable.

As a token of our gratitude, we were proud to present "The Somerset Murmuration", a beautiful artwork created by our talented pupils. The piece captures the spirit of Somerset and serves as a lasting reminder of the connection between Mr Ball and the young people he has inspired.

Thank you, for taking the time to visit us and for all you have done. We wish you every happiness in your retirement.

🌟 Year 8 Residential Adventure 2026 🌟

What an incredible few days our Year 8 students have enjoyed on their residential trip to Hartington Hall!

From climbing high and stepping out of their comfort zones at Go Ape, to making unforgettable memories and having thrilling adventures at Alton Towers, the trip was packed with fun, laughter, teamwork and friendship.

This residential marks a particularly special moment as it is our Year 8 students' final trip before moving on to their next school. We are so proud of the way they represented our school, supported one another and embraced every challenge and opportunity along the way.

We hope they take these wonderful memories, new friendships and experiences with them as they begin their next exciting chapter.

💥 What a way to finish the school year! 💥

Our end-of-year laser tag event was packed with laughter, teamwork and plenty of friendly competition! From tactical teamwork to epic last minute victories, everyone had an amazing time making memories together.

A huge thank you to Adventure Bound for running a fantastic 3 day event and giving our pupils an unforgettable experience. It was the perfect way to celebrate all their hard work this year.

Well done to everyone who took part, we hope you all had as much fun as it looked! 🌞💥

☀️🏅 What a Fantastic Sports Day! 🏅☀️

Despite the soaring temperatures, our students showed incredible determination, teamwork and sportsmanship throughout the day. From sprint races to relay events, every participant gave their best and made us proud.

A huge well done to all of our athletes, staff and sports leaders who helped make the day such a success. We’re especially grateful to everyone for staying hydrated, supporting one another and helping ensure the event ran safely in the hot weather.

The smiles, cheers, and achievements on display were a true reflection of our amazing school spirit. 🌟

Thank you to all the families who came along to support and encourage the competitors. Congratulations to everyone who took part, you should be incredibly proud of yourselves!

🎨🕊️ Students from Hugh Sexey’s Middle School Art Club are proud to present Somerset Murmuration, a collaborative installation created for the Wedmore Arts Festival and now on display in St Mary’s Church.
Inspired by the breathtaking starling murmurations seen around Glastonbury Tor and across the Somerset Levels, the artwork combines a vibrant painted sunset with hundreds of 3D origami birds, capturing the movement, energy and beauty of these incredible natural spectacles.
Created by students of different ages working together, Somerset Murmuration celebrates creativity, teamwork and our local landscape through painting, paper craft and design.

We are excited to invite our Year 8 students to celebrate the end of a fantastic school year at our Year 8 End of Year Party!
