Laura here, and Megan will hate me for posting this 😂
If anyone knows me and Megan, you’ll know we aren’t very soppy. She hates nothing more than being hugged, and if you give her a compliment, she pulls a stupid face and laughs. But throughout the entire Young Traders competition today, in her first year, I felt such an overwhelming sense of pride in her. 🥹
Sun and Sky Designs wouldn’t be where it is today without her. She does all the things I don’t have time for, she’s solely responsible for making your zero-waste rings that have become bestsellers over the last few years, and she keeps me sane. Yes, she complains absolutely every single day, even this morning at 6.30 am when I woke her up, but Megan’s work happens behind the scenes, so it’s easy for people not to realise just how without her, earrings wouldn’t be carded, we wouldn’t make as much stock, and we wouldn’t attend as many markets around the country. 🥵
A lot of what Megan does happens behind the scenes, as I mentioned before, so it’s easy for people not to realise just how much she contributes. Her hard work often goes unnoticed because she’s quietly getting on with the jobs that keep everything running. She never asks for recognition, but she deserves so much of it. 💕
Watching her today, I felt a bit emotional. She has turned into a confident, thriving young woman. There are 11 years between us, so I’ve had the pleasure of watching her grow up firsthand. There’s no one else I would trust as much as Megan to promote and represent my small business, which is as much hers now as it is mine. ☀️
Although the competition today didn’t go in her favour, I know that next time, and everytime after that, she’ll absolutely smash it because she is incredible. I’m so proud of everything she’s achieved already, and I can’t wait to see what she does next. 🥰

Trading near my hometown is always a privilege and was such a wholesome day! The whole family came down to support me and I even got to see my favourite college teacher Mrs Westall 🥰

I was taking a mini break but then a very exciting opportunity came up…
Starting off I’m back in Blackburn this weekend for the Festival of Making! ☺️ Nice to have a market that is 10 minutes from my house with 😛
Then I got asked to join Nottingham Contemporary’s Summer Craft Fair in the middle of the month! So excited for this one! 🥹
Then we finish the month with Megan competing in the Regional Final in Chester 💕
A nice month, and I finish work next week so can finally work on some much requested restocks and new collections 😘
