A Buzzing Time for Bugs and Blooms!

Week three at Forest School was a whirlwind of activity, buzzing with excitement as we learned about the fascinating world of insects and the flowers they love.
Our little green thumbs got busy first thing, digging into our growing patch with gusto. We talked about attracting insects to our garden and how to create a welcoming habitat for them. The children were eager to plant seeds for wildflowers that would provide food and shelter for our buzzing friends.

'Look at how big my hole is!' shouted one child, beaming with pride as he carefully placed a seed inside, we watered and caring for our plants , ensuring our insect-friendly garden would thrive.

Next we embarked on a thrilling flower hunt in the forest garden. The children's eyes sparkled as they discovered a rainbow of colours and shapes.

'Wow, look at this one! It's like a tiny sun!' exclaimed a young explorer, pointing to a bright yellow dandelion.

Our explorations led to an exciting discovery - learning how to use tools to print flower patterns. The children carefully pressed the petals onto paper, creating beautiful and unique pieces of art that captured the essence of the flowers.

Finally, we delved into the intriguing world of bees and pollination. Through engaging stories and demonstrations, we learned how bees gather pollen and nectar

The Essex Mobile Library rolled into our nursery today, bringing a world of stories and adventures, our little hands reached for books and our hearts filled with the magic of reading, thanks to the Essex Mobile Library.
It was a day filled with stories, sharing, and the joy of books, all thanks to the Essex Mobile Library-

𝘼 𝘽𝙪𝙯𝙯𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙒𝙚𝙚𝙠 𝙞𝙣 𝙁𝙤𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙎𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙡!

We kicked things off with a captivating story from Miss Honeybee, all about the fascinating world of bees. We learned about their role in pollination, the importance of protecting them, and even got to compare the different types of bees we might see buzzing around our forest garden.

Armed with newfound knowledge and a sense of adventure, we embarked on a scavenger hunt! Our mission: to find the perfect sticks for our campfire and those delicate, fragrant elderflowers. The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the elderflower pancake feast. We gathered around the campfire, as we cooked our sweet, floral pancakes. But our explorations didn't stop there. We spent time observing the different leaves from our forest garden, marvelling at their unique shapes, colours, and textures. These leafy wonders fuelled our creativity as we used them to paint our own masterpieces, capturing the beauty of nature on paper. And to wrap up our busy week, we dug in and got our hands dirty carefully preparing the soil to get ready for planting.

*Happy Father's Day to Everyone Celebrating Today!**

At High House Nursery, we're thrilled to celebrate the amazing fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and brothers who play such a vital role in the lives of our children. To honor them on this special day, we organised a series of fun-filled activities that brought joy and laughter to all.
The highlight of our Father's Day festivities was undoubtedly our penalty shootout. We invited our male role models to participate in a friendly competition alongside their children. Lots of cheers and encouragement filled the air, as each child had the opportunity to take a penalty kick while their family member guarded the goal.

After the shootout, the children shared heartfelt messages expressing how their family member inspired them. Their words were filled with admiration and love:
'He's as strong as Stickman!', 'He's as big as a house!', 'He always makes me laugh.' 'He teaches me everything I need to know.'
It was a moving testament to the immense impact that these men have on the lives of our young ones.

This week at forest school, the children had a blast with their teacher, Rachel! They learned a super cool skill – how to make a fire using a flint, twigs, and some cotton wool. Rachel made sure to explain fire safety rules too, so everyone knew how to be responsible around flames.

The fun didn't stop there! The kids built awesome dens, perfect for hiding and imagining adventures. Then, they stumbled upon a treasure – a piece of tarpaulin collecting rainwater! Rachel had a brilliant idea – she showed them how to hold the edges and work together to move the water around. They let it all come rushing out like a mini waterfall, it was a week filled with learning, creativity, and teamwork!

Calling all little explorers! Today we had a messy play activity celebrating the start of the Euros. 󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

We created a sensory tuff tray with a special textured center shaped like the England flag! It was filled with all sorts of fun textures for little hands to discover. ️

The children had a blast digging in, feeling the different textures, and scooping the materials into cups with spoons. They loved pouring the contents from cup to cup, too!
