Gatehouse Awards - Animal Care and Veterinary Science are delighted to announce the launch of two new introductory qualifications:

1. Level 3 Award in an Introduction to Canine Hydrotherapy

2. Level 3 Award in an Introduction to Equine Hydrotherapy

These qualifications have been developed in collaboration with industry Subject Matter Experts, and we would like to extend our sincere thanks for their valuable time, knowledge, and expertise throughout the development process.

Designed as introductory qualifications, they provide learners with foundational knowledge and introductory practical skills to support hydrotherapy practice within supervised environments.

These qualifications are ideal for:

- Individuals considering a future career in hydrotherapy
- Veterinary and animal care professionals seeking introductory knowledge and skills
- Learners wishing to progress into further study within animal rehabilitation and hydrotherapy

Important Notice

These are introductory level qualifications only and do not qualify learners to practise independently as canine or equine hydrotherapists.

Learners who complete these qualifications are not qualified hydrotherapists and must not represent themselves as such. Further study, supervised clinical experience, and additional qualifications are required before independent practice can take place.

These qualifications are intended to provide the first step into the hydrotherapy profession and support progression into further learning and supervised industry experience.

2. Level 4 Certificate in Practice of Canine Myofascial Rehabilitation (Galen Myotherapy)

The Level 4 Certificate in Canine Myofascial Rehabilitation for Veterinary Surgeons is a specialist qualification designed exclusively for practising Veterinary Surgeons.

The Level 4 Certificate in Practice of Canine Myofascial Rehabilitation is tailored for practising Veterinary Nurses, Canine Hydrotherapists, and existing Canine Massage Therapists who wish to further develop and enhance their existing skills and knowledge.

What an incredible 4 days at Crufts! 🐾

It was amazing to be there with the brilliant teams from Operation K9 Ltd Hydrotherapy Centres Operation K9 Academy and Edyoucate, surrounded by so many passionate people in the Animal Care and Veterinary Science sector.

We loved catching up with so many familiar faces and also meeting lots of lovely new people over the last few days.

We had some fantastic conversations about a number of new qualification developments along with the qualifications we currently offer and the future of education across the industry, and how we can continue supporting professionals who want to grow their knowledge and skills.

Over the past six months, the team at Gatehouse Awards - Animal Care and Veterinary Science has been working closely with a range of industry experts developing a range of new Ofqual-regulated qualifications.

As part of our preparations for Crufts 2026, we were keen to introduce a new qualification, and we are delighted to announce the launch of the Level 5 Certificate in Leadership and Management for Animal Rehabilitation Services.

We would like to extend our thanks to Kerrie Oakley, Emily Ashdown - The Laser Trainer Precision Animal Laser Academy, Edyoucate, and Operation K9 Ltd Hydrotherapy Centres Operation K9 Academy for their invaluable support and contributions throughout the development process, this achievement would not have been possible without them.

Gatehouse Awards is also pleased to offer comprehensive teaching, learning, and assessment materials for approved training providers wishing to deliver this qualification.
