Our series of International Conferences on Women and Religion returns on 23 October, live online and from the University of Birmingham campus, convened by Dr Juhi Gupta and Professor Andrew Davies. Our previous events, from the UK and Nepal, have welcomed well over 200 participants to learn about the impact religion has on women’s lives across the world. We have discussed the experiences of women of faith across the world, including in India, Nepal and the UK, and learned about some of the challenges religion poses to women’s experiences and opportunities and the ways in which women of faith are using their own religious traditions to deliver positive change for their own lives and the lives of others.
Join us for the next session on Wednesday 23 October from the University of Birmingham, as IFF in conjunction with Zakir Hussain College and the Edward Cadbury Centre gathers four excellent speakers from the UK, India and Dubai to share and to reflect upon their own experiences across Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam and Christianity. Registration is completely free and we issue a certificate of participation to all attenders.
Do join us if you can - registration is free via https://bit.ly/womenandreligion4 or you can scan the QR code here to register too. If you’re in the UK and would like to attend the in-person session at the University, please email [email protected] to confirm.

World Food Day is a day I care about a lot. This year I'm celebrating it with Inclusive Futures Foundation, Juhi Gupta and some great speakers including friends from Aligarh Muslim University Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana and Akshaya Patra where we'll be talking about food security, feeding programmes and sustainable farming. It's free - it's at 1.30pm in India and 9.00am in the UK on Wednesday 16 October and it will be an uplifting and inspirational start to your day.

The University of Birmingham’s Edward Cadbury Centre (in conjunction with Inclusive Futures Foundation (India) and Padma Kanya College, Tribhuvan University, Nepal) is delighted to be hosting its Second International Conference on Women and Religion on Wednesday 14 August from 9.15am UK time (1.45pm India time), live from Kathmandu. Once again we have some excellent speakers lined up, including keynote speaker Professor Rekha Pande (University of Hyderabad) and Dr Bhagyashree Bavare (Somaiya Vidyavihar University, Mumbai). We want to create a space where the stories of everyday women of faith can be told and their challenges understood, trying to learn how religion impacts women’s lives the world over and how women of faith are shaping society differently.
Registration is open to everyone and completely free for online or in-person attenders – please visit https://bit.ly/womenandreligion2

•FAITH IN BUSINESS•
Day 1
Our Centre Director Prof Andrew Davies and Associate Director Dr Maryyum Mehmood are attending the Dare to Overcome: Faith and Work conference hosted by the Religious Freedom & Business Foundation at The Catholic University of America Washington DC.
Day 1 opened with sessions on insights and behaviours around issues of faith and belief in society and media. Team Cadbury had a wonderful time learning from and getting to know key figures from organisations such Intel, Dell and Google amongst many others. They also enjoyed sharing their insights and expertise on the invaluable role of faith in the private sector, and how academia can facilitate crucial conversations and impactful partnerships between MNCs, the public sector and policy.
Big thank you to Prof Brian J. Grim and his team for inviting us to participate in this pertinent and engaging event. Looking forward to tomorrow!
