In his end-of-year reflections, our Headmaster, Mr Neeson, celebrates the incredible dedication of our pupils, staff, parents and governors, and the values that continue to define life at The Blue Coat School: Respect, Perseverance and Kindness.

As the new academic year approaches, we now look ahead with excitement to welcoming both familiar and new faces for another year of learning, growth and opportunity. We can't wait to see what 2026–27 will bring.

A few weeks on, we're still reminiscing about the amazing performances at our Summer Concert. What a brilliant way to celebrate the end of the school year! 🎶

Our talented Prep students filled the stage with confidence, teamwork and joy at our BCS Summer concert!

From the powerful Brass Ensemble and energetic Percussion Ensemble to the swinging Jazz Band and beautiful Orchestra, every performance was something to be proud of. 🎺🥁🎷🎻

One week on, we are still celebrating an unforgettable triumph at Shakespeare’s Globe! 🎭🏆

Stepping onto one of the world’s most iconic stages in front of an audience of more than 300 people, Zidaan represented Blue Coat in the Poetry by Heart Grand Finale.

Competing against talented young performers from across the country, he captivated the audience with his confidence, energy and expression, earning laughter, cheers and applause from the very first line.

The celebrations continued when Zidaan was announced as the national winner of the Key Stage 2 Freestyle category! What an extraordinary achievement and a wonderful recognition of his talent, hard work and remarkable stage presence.

On the final day of term, the whole school was treated to a performance of Zidaan’s winning piece during our final assembly. Pupils revelled in delight as he brought the piece to life once again, filling the room with laughter and providing a brilliant end to the school year.

Congratulations, Zidaan. We could not be prouder!

As another wonderful year comes to a close, our final week of the 2025–26 academic year was filled with joy, celebration and reflection.

Every pupil has achieved something to be proud of this year. Whether it was a Nursery child writing their name for the very first time, mastering a new skill, discovering a new passion, or lifting an IAPS trophy, every milestone has been celebrated. Throughout it all, our pupils have embodied the Blue Coat Values, demonstrating kindness, respect, honesty and perseverance in their pursuit of limitless learning.

It was an especially memorable week for our Year 6 pupils as they enjoyed their final days at BCS. They leave having made their own mark on Blue Coat history, creating lifelong friendships, unforgettable memories and a legacy they can be proud of.

Whilst we will miss them enormously, we know they will continue to flourish at their senior schools and look forward to welcoming them back in the years ahead as Old Scholars.

Here's to an incredible year and a well-deserved summer break!

We are so excited to finally be able to share that Year 3 pupil, Bowen, will be featured in the Birmingham episode of Channel 4 The Piano! 🎹

Bowen will be the youngest ever pianist to feature on the programme but we aren't surprised, his talent and charisma far exceeds his years.

Congratulations, Bowen. We are incredibly proud of you! 🤩

What a fantastic two days of Prep Sports Days! ☀️

Bathed in glorious sunshine, the field was a sea of House colours as pupils from all six Houses competed with determination, pride and incredible team spirit for the prestigious Headmaster’s House Cup.

From the track to the sidelines, our pupils showed resilience, perseverance and outstanding sportsmanship, cheering one another on and creating a truly special atmosphere.

We also saw some exceptional athletic performances, with four school records broken:

🏃‍♀️ Ree – Senior 150m record: 23.26 seconds
🏃 Zach – Senior 150m record: 22.73 seconds
🏃 Zach – Senior 600m record: 1:49.94
💪 Lyla – Junior ball throw record: 26m 10cm

Congratulations to every pupil who took part and contributed to such a memorable two days.

The final House standings and the winners of the Headmaster’s House Cup will be announced in Celebration Assembly on Thursday. 🏆

Happy 50th Birthday, Mr Neeson! 🎉

We have had a fantastic day celebrating our Headmaster's 50th birthday today.

Year 5 and 6 were joined by Governors, parents and Old Scholars in Chapel this morning for beautiful performances, hymns and readings including the Head Boy, Chester, and Head Girl, Anai, reading a very special 'Ode to Mr Neeson'.

Then the rest of the school, from Nursery to Year 4 pupils, lined the path from Chapel to Viney to create a Guard of Honour for Mr Neeson!

At lunchtime, the whole school came together for a joyous BBQ picnic on the front field with lots of music and dancing.

Mr Neeson also shares his birthday with Naysha and Joshua so they enjoyed a whole school rendition of Happy Birthday too! The big question is, will Mr Neeson also share his birthday cake with them? 🎂
