Don't Know, But I'll Find Out"
Normalising not knowing everything; authenticity.
Let’s reflect, someone asks you a highly specific question about a new regulation, a funding, or a HR policy, and your mind goes completely blank. Cue the internal panic.😱🤯
If you’re of a certain age ( female) then that ‘brain fog’ descends and you cannot think of the words to explain anything 😩
Here is a gentle reminder, you do not need to be a walking encyclopaedia.
Saying, "I don’t actually know the answer to that off the top of my head, but let me look into it and get back to you by tomorrow," isn’t a sign of weakness. It’s a sign of honesty.♥️
People respect honesty far more than a guessed answer.
Do you find it easy to admit when you don't know something, or do you feel the pressure to fake it till you make it?

Chaos as a leader?
Let’s be honest: some days in early years are just beautifully, utterly chaotic.
Paint spills, sensory foam on the ceiling, three staff members away, and the printer jammed.😂
On those days, the best thing you can do for your culture is to just laugh.
When the leader can smile through the chaos, it gives the rest of the team permission not to panic.
It’s all part of the wild ride of early childhood. What is the most chaotic, "you had to laugh or you'd cry" moment you’ve experienced in your career so far? Let’s swap stories!

Today, I want you to reflect on something that’s often overlooked but absolutely crucial, it’s
emotional fitness.
We all know about physical fitness, running, lifting, keeping our bodies healthy.
Emotional fitness is much the same, but for the mind and heart. It’s about building resilience so we can handle whatever life throws at us, especially in the fast-paced, sometimes chaotic world of early childhood education. 🤪
Jo Shane from Matters Magazine describes emotional fitness beautifully: it’s the ability to manage our emotions effectively, bounce back from setbacks, and stay grounded even when things get tough.
Think of it like a mental and emotional workout. The more you practice, the stronger you become.
What Does Emotional Fitness Look like, to you as an early years leader, manager?

Fed up of Face Book?
Keen to join a community you can gain support? Connect with other owners, directors and leaders
This Face Book page is great but it doesn’t have the opportunity to gain support, ask and answer questions
Face book is great but it’s getting so full of random ads, crappy notifications and advertisements that it’s hard to find the help and support you need 😢
That’s why I’ve created a community on SKOOL

Working in Early childhood education is hard work, not just physically demanding but emotionally stressful too
As owners, leaders and managers we carry the weight of responsibility on our shoulders and some days it can feel tough, a up hill struggle with little or no support
Having owned several outstanding settings over my 40 year career I regularly suffered with night terrors 😱
Night terrors are a sleep disorder and these are often caused by stress and Anxiety: High emotional tension, or anxiety that can trigger these episodes. Honestly they were utterly frightening, scary and exhausting.
Sadly everyone of these night terrors I experienced was ALWAYS to do with my nursery, a replay of my subconsious fears and the stress I was holding 😭
During this time, I recognised I needed support, a community of fellow like minded people who understood my daily struggles. People I could openly share my concerns with.
Sadly these communities are few and far between
To add to my stress levels , my husband at the time was totally unsupportive and didn’t understand the complexities of my role. 😢
He’d be dismissive or offer some totally useless and irrelevant advice ( often adding to my stress levels and even resulting in an argument ) 🤦♀️😱😭
So what to do ?
I was lucky I signed up to a Day Nursery owner mastermind group and gained support from a small group of owners I now proudly call friends ♥️
But what if you haven’t got the money to invest in such an elite and high ticket price group?
Yes you can join social media groups but what if you’re looking for more?
A community that cheers each other on, supports and encourages AND offers practical stratergies and the even the opportunity to grow as a leader manager
I’m delighted to say that from today. I’ve launched an online community that would of helped me when I needed it most. A space and a place to connect
It’s NOT about compliance or Ofsted inspections. It’s not about assessment and ratings, policies and procedures
It’s about connection, leading with HEART courage and confidence.
It’s about going to work with a team who are all on the same bus! No bitching allowed.
It’s about creating a positive early childhood culture where EVERYONE THRIVES
If your interested? Need a community where you feel brighter, lighter and supported in your role
Check it out on SKOOL 👇🏽♥️
