One of my favourite quotes
Being a leader, managers is tough. Running an early childhood centre is hard! It’s a lonely place that nobody truly understands unless you’ve done it.

The weight of responsibility is extreme sometimes and it’s something you carry into every part of your life. It follows you on holiday, on your days off! It’s with you every waking hour and it can wear you down

Not every day is great! In fact if you got through it by actually drinking a a hot coffee, or not dealing with anybody’s drivel and drama it’s a GOOD day

Celebrate the small wins

Not everyday Is a great day, but there’s something GOOD in every day 🥳🎉

A centre’s philosophy isn’t meant to sit in a frame gathering dust by the front door.

It’s in the quiet, respectful communication during a nappy change, the absolute chaos of mud kitchen play, and those moments we step back and let a child figure things out themselves (even when it takes twice as long).

When our values move off paper and into our daily habits, everything shifts.

Routine chores become real connections, and the day to day business actually makes sense.

Our job as leaders isn't just to write a nice philosophy, it’s to help our teams live it, breathe it up, act on it.

Maybe they struggle to get it right sometimes but it’s about reflecting on why it didn’t work well and trying again tomorrow.

Your philosophy is not about the beautiful words on a wall ! It’s way more than that.

I’ve spent the last two weeks traveling across Queensland visiting early learning centres and Kindergartens
supporting Directors and Lead Educators as they work to lift quality standards and unite their whole team.
🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺

And across the majority of stops on this tour, one major thing stands out to me is the differing opinions and unity across teams and how this can deeply impacting centre morale and culture. 🥺🙈😱

As a manager you spend half your working week listening to moans and groans 🤯🤪 it’s DRAINING

If we look, there ARE are SO many GREAT things happening inside individual rooms. 🎉

The passion is there.
But rooms are struggling to collaborate, communicate, and cross-pollinate those best practices, routines, and systems across the whole centre. ⛓️‍💥

We can’t transform culture in isolation.

My focus over the last few weeks has been to identify and help leaders bridge those gaps, break down the room by room walls, and turn brilliant individual efforts into ONE united team. 🙌🏼🎉 To recognise we ALL have one main thing that binds us all together’ The CHILDREN’

and that at the core of all the disharmony and struggles everyone wants to provide the best care and opportunities for the little ones. ❤️

To every Director, manager and Lead Educator out there doing this work: your best solutions are often already under your roof. 🏡

TIME to share the magic across the corridor and the hallway and bring synergy and harmony throughout the entire centre. 💪🔗

Early Years Leader, Manager 😱

Feeling isolated, stressed and alone?
Do you feel the heavy weight of responsibility on your shoulders

You know that feeling, when worries, infiltrate every part of your day and night! 😰

You THINK about your setting whilst at work, whilst at home.

You THINK about your setting whilst doing the grocery shopping, while you’re at the park with the family

OR even at 3am in the morning, 4am
5am 😱

It’s relentless and it can be HARD going at times. I know that feeling, I’ve been there and it’s hard to find someone who understands

My husband didn’t get it
I couldn’t share with my deputy
I didn’t want to burden my friends and PLUS they’d just try to get me forget about work for a while !
Not that easy, RIGHT ? 🤯😳🙈

This is something I spoke about on the FREE ‘No bitching allowed’ webinar

Are you an Early Years Leader, manager and tired of dealing with educators who are pulling apart instead of pulling together!

Those staff members who do the absolute bare minimum, whilst leaving other jobs to be covered by your most hardworking and diligent members of the team 😢🥺
Did you know by not addressing quiet quitters, by not leaning in and finding out why. You run the risk of losing your most hardworking team members 💔

Then what ? You’ll be left with a team who are all half arsed 😭 😩🫣
