Phoenix Education

Phoenix Education A pioneering charity providing much needed inspiration and support to enhance student participation and engagement in schools. Respect breeds respect.

Imagine an education system that values and gives respect to every student and where being supported to learn in the way that best suits each child is a right, not a privilege. You're imagining a democratic education. The Phoenix Education Trust is a small national charity founded in 2001 by Lord Michael Young of Dartington which works to support and promote democratic education. We support educat

ion which honours the UN convention of the rights of the child; equality within relationships are key to a learning environment which can do this. Trust breeds trust. Responsibility breeds responsibility. Tolerence breeds tolerance. Combined these elements create a place where shared decision making is a genuine and effective practice. We use our resources to provide the research, training and information needed to reach out with the campaign for democratic education - because the education children receive affects everybody's lives.

The government say they are listening to people most affected by school policy โ€“ that also means home educators!

Your voices are crucial in ensuring that the government hears from ALL sectors, not just those who are still in the system.

Please send us your videos, stories, poems or posters โ€“ weโ€™ll collate these and make sure the voices of home educated young people and their families are heard. (We can keep these anonymous if you'd prefer.)

That means home educating parents too :)

Calling all parents! We need your help to shape the future of education. We want to hear your experiences and opinions of what is taught in our schools and how testing and assessment is done.

All parents of 5 to 19 year-olds, whatever stage their children are at currently, and in fact anybody else with a view on education in England is welcome to fill in the online survey below, or email a form back to our review panel.

The panel would love to read your thoughts and views as they will be using them to help form their initial recommendations for a new school curriculum. Their initial report will be published next year.

Complete the online survey here https://consult.education.gov.uk/curriculum-and-assessment-team/curriculum-and-assessment-review-call-for-evidence/

Download our easy read form here https://consult.education.gov.uk/curriculum-and-assessment-team/curriculum-and-assessment-review-call-for-evidence/supporting_documents/Tell%20us%20what%20you%20think%20about%20education%20%20Easy%20Read%20version%20of%20CAR%20call%20for%20evidence.docx
