The official launch of the new Digbeth public artworks brought together artists, partners and visitors to celebrate the latest stage in the area’s cultural regeneration.

Alongside the launch, we were proud to showcase student work inspired by the public artworks, giving learners the opportunity to respond creatively to their surroundings and display their ideas in a real public setting.

As Digbeth continues to evolve, opportunities like this help connect learning with the real world building confidence and experience for our students.

SCCB X Solus

A massive thank you to Solus for donating leftover and surplus tiles to the college. This material will give our tiling students high-quality materials to practice with, boosting their employability.

The tiles will also be used for a refurbishment project for the college toilets. We can't wait to show the before and afters and some of the work our students will create.

Paul Henderson, Head of School for ESOL at South and City College Birmingham, has been awarded a prestigious national honour in recognition of his outstanding contribution to language education.

With more than 35 years experience in the field, Henderson leads one of the largest and most successful ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) provisions in the UK, supporting thousands of learners each year. Colleagues and peers have praised Henderson’s dedication to education and his lasting impact on both staff and students, describing the recognition as “well deserved.”
