SCHOOL CLOSURE 14th SEPTEMBER 2026

We have had a significant leak in school that means we have no power to even partially open.

As a result, and to keep everyone safe, we cannot open school tomorrow and MT Club is also cancelled.

Well, we’re baaaack!!

And with one of our favourite performers gearing up to kick off the season - our very own Chris Passey will be treating us to an evening of song.

Chris is co-musical director of Birmingham Voices, a professional choir that has toured the UK with Josh Groban, Russell Watson and works regularly with BBC Songs of Praise, London Palladium and Christmas at the Barbican with the LCO as well as numerous concerts at Symphony Hall, The Barbican and Cadogan Hall.

His songs have been performed all over the world in concerts and cabarets. He co-wrote 'Stagey & Proud' which was written for and originally performed by Chloe Hart.

​Award-winning actress Sheridan Smith chose this song to perform at the What's On Stage Awards in the West End. His song-writing and arranging skills were called upon recently by Broadway and West End legend Marisha Wallace who used by choir vocal arrangement of 'This Is Me' on her recent smash-hit UK Tour.

Enough there to promise you a treat?? I believe so!

Twenty beds. One kitchen. A garden. And someone nearly always playing something. Family.

This is Elmdon Lodge, the Kimichi boarding house — a double-fronted town house five minutes' walk from school, with single and twin en-suite rooms.

Only twenty. Not two hundred. It is small enough that nobody in it goes unnoticed, which is the entire point.

We know who reads posts like this. Often it is a parent whose child started somewhere in September and is not coping — where the anxiety that was manageable in June is not manageable now.

THINGS WE DO NOT HAVE: a chapel. A thousand acres. A quad. An oil painting of anyone.

Things we do have: a limit of twenty children boarding, en-suite bedrooms, a garden, a kitchen where people end up talking, a four-minute-eight-second walk to school, classes that never go above ten, and someone playing an instrument at eight o'clock most nights.

If your child would flourish at a great institution, send them to one — there are wonderful ones. But if you have a child for whom the institution has become the problem, we might be the place.

Boarding is official!

Well, this morning was a very exciting morning. We took the keys from the wonderful Katherine and Terry at Elmdon Lodge - our boarding school is official, registered, fabulously furnished and approved and we couldn’t be happier!

So much history in this beautiful building that we’re looking forward to preserving and allowing a whole new generation of children to enjoy, even if it’s in a slightly different way.... 🏡🙌🫶

Any of our Solihull parents feel included?

Councillors have questioned how much Solihull parents have been involved in the council’s plans to reform the special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) system.

The government is pushing forward with a proposal to reform SEND system. The major changes include replacing Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) - which are designed to support children and young people with special educational needs - with new ISPs, layers of support and national inclusion standards.

Solihull Council ’s response to the changes came under the spotlight at the latest meeting of the children’s services and education scrutiny board.
