Our Tidbury Green School choir have been hitting all the high notes throughout the festive season. They have had a long list of performance requests this year including Tesco, Monkspath, the Tidbury Christmas Lights Switch On, Touchwood and a truly magical evening as the service choir at Birmingham Cathedral! With your help, they could receive the local recognition they deserve in the Touchwood Choir Competition which is now open. We would love you to help them by sharing widely with your friends, family and colleagues to help Mrs Ridgers and the Tidbury Choir swap their Santa hats for crowns 👑

Last week, four of our Tidbury pupils visited the Council House and met our Mayor of Solihull to receive awards amongst their proud families and teachers. We are delighted to see our inspiring young people being celebrated by our local authority. We loved hearing about all that they are achieving both personally and academically as a result of their incredible strength of character. 💙 solihullcouncil Solihull Council

⚡️ Smartphone Free Christmas ⚡️ Every Christmas, lots of children ask for the same big gift: a smartphone.
But many parents are realising that the “extras” that come with it, like late-night scrolling, group-chat stress, and algorithms that never take a break, aren’t what they want for their kids.

Quietly, a shift is happening. Families are choosing a calmer, more grounded childhood instead of devices designed to hook their attention.

And that brings us to the question we hear all the time:
“If not a smartphone, what can my child use?”

Thankfully, safer alternatives have come a long way. Tech companies are finally offering phones that keep kids connected without social media, addictive feeds, or the open internet. The tricky part is simply knowing which one to pick.

So the team at Smartphone Free Childhood have put together a quick guide to help.

✨ Watch their new video covering the best child-friendly phones this Christmas:

Hopefully it provides useful information and helps make this Christmas and 2026 a time where we let our children keep their childhood.

💛

Our Year 1 Owls and Eagles had a wonderful time on their trip to St James Church for Journey to the Stable. The children took part in a range of exciting, hands-on activities: they gathered as shepherds around a cosy 'campfire', met the wise men and learnt about early astronomy and explored the Christmas story in an engaging, interactive way.
The children also made their own stars from lolly sticks, which they proudly brought back to school. A highlight of the visit was seeing the story of Jesus’ birth performed for us – with a Mary who looked very familiar to the children! Thank you to Mrs Holmes for being fully immersed in the performance.
It was a magical, festive experience that the children thoroughly enjoyed.
