If you want teaching to be recognised as a respected profession, you should only value the opinion of professionals.

Instead of (again) making mobile phones the focus, if governments are serious about wanting to reduce distraction, disruption, etc. there needs to be a drive to make centralised detentions integral to every secondary school.

At present, the variation between schools is massive.

At school x, a teacher can spend a full term setting, chasing up detentions just to get their class quiet.

At a school with a centralised detention policy, the above can be accomplished within 2-3 weeks.

Restorative justice (without proper sanctions) needs to end.

For the sake of teachers and pupils.

A school went on strike over exactly this.

The union rep gives details. Horrifying.

RJ is still being imposed on schools to their detriment.
