Exciting New Ways to Learn, Share and Connect at Nursery!

We are delighted to share some exciting new additions that we have recently introduced and revamped at nursery to help strengthen our partnership with families and support children's learning and development both at nursery and at home.

Home Learning

Our new Home Learning area has been created to provide families with simple, fun activities that can be enjoyed together at home. These activities are linked to children's interests and development and help to extend their learning beyond the nursery day.

The benefits of home learning include:

• Building stronger connections between home and nursery experiences.

• Supporting children's confidence and independence.

• Creating special opportunities for families to learn and play together.

• Reinforcing key skills through everyday activities and experiences.

We hope these ideas help make learning at home enjoyable and easy to fit into family life.

Lending Library

Our Lending Library gives children and families the opportunity to borrow books to enjoy at home. Sharing stories together is one of the most valuable things you can do to support your child's development.

The benefits of the Lending Library include:

• Encouraging a love of reading from an early age.

• Developing language, communication and listening skills.

• Expanding children's imagination and understanding of the world.

• Providing quality time for families to share together.

We encourage all families to take advantage of the library and explore new stories with their children.

Swap Shop

Our Swap Shop has been introduced as a way for families to exchange good quality children's clothing, books, toys and resources that are no longer needed.

The benefits of the Swap Shop include:

• Supporting sustainability by reducing waste.

• Helping families save money.

• Giving pre-loved items a new home and purpose.

• Creating a stronger sense of community by supporting one another.

We welcome donations of clean, good quality items and encourage families to browse and take anything that may be useful for their child.

These new areas have been created to support children's learning, strengthen family involvement and build an even stronger nursery community. We hope you enjoy using them and we look forward to seeing the positive impact they have on our children and families.

Carnival Week:
This week the nursery has been alive with colour, music and celebration as we immersed ourselves in the vibrant world of Carnival. Carnival is celebrated across the globe as a joyful festival full of parades, costumes, dancing and community spirit, and the children have absolutely loved exploring its creativity and excitement. From the moment they arrived each morning, the rooms were filled with bright materials, upbeat rhythms and opportunities to express themselves.

The children got stuck into designing their own Carnival masks using feathers, sequins and bold colours, proudly showing off their creations as they danced around the room. We enjoyed energetic ribbon dancing sessions where the children moved to lively Carnival music, exploring rhythm, coordination and expressive movement, Exotic fruit tasting!

Our confetti collage art brought bursts of colour to the tables as the children layered tissue paper and shapes to create artwork. We even practised our own mini parade outdoors, marching, dancing and celebrating together — a wonderful moment of teamwork, confidence and pure joy.

To add an extra boost to our mornings, we hope all parents enjoyed a selection of fresh smoothies that our wonderful Becky prepared. We want to say a huge thank you to all the parents who helped themselves. We hope they fuelled the beginning of your day and set you on the right path.

Our Carnival‑themed smoothie menu was a hit with everyone, featuring Banana & Coconut, Passionfruit, Mango, Apple & Kiwi, and Mango, Pineapple & Papaya. The children loved talking about the colours and flavours, which tied perfectly into our theme of vibrancy and celebration.

🌟 WOW… what a moment for our nursery! 🌟

This weekend marked our very first company awards, and honestly… what an honour. Our nursery was nominated for Nursery Team of the Year, and I was nominated for Manager of the Year — shortlisted from 15 nurseries across the organisation. To even be finalists felt huge. It felt like a real “look how far we’ve come” moment.

And when we say this year has been a journey… we mean it.

Over the last 12 months, our team has faced challenges that pushed us, shaped us, and showed exactly what we’re made of. When a local nursery sadly closed, we had just one or two days to step in and support over 30 families who suddenly needed somewhere safe, stable, and welcoming for their children. Our team didn’t hesitate, we pulled together, worked around the clock, and made sure every single family felt heard and supported during an incredibly stressful time.

We’ve welcomed brilliant new team members who’ve brought fresh experience and added even more strength to our high‑performing team. We’ve embraced new families, adapted to changes in the EYFS, and continued to raise the bar in everything we do. It’s been busy, emotional, exciting, and honestly… a whirlwind. But every step has been worth it.

We are pleased to announce we won Team of the Year. ✨

This award means everything. It reflects the dedication, commitment, and genuine love our team pours into our nursery every single day. It shows the impact we have on children, families, and our community — and we couldn’t be prouder. And yes… we definitely celebrated in style!

To our incredible team: thank you for your hard work, your hearts, your resilience, and your passion. To our families: thank you for trusting us, supporting us, and being part of our journey. You make our nursery the special place it is.

🌟 World Sickle Cell Day Fundraiser at Little Adventures Stirchley 🌟

Over the last few days, our nursery community has come together in the most incredible way to support World Sickle Cell Day — a cause that is especially close to our hearts. One of our wonderful team members lives with Sickle Cell, and we are so proud to stand beside her and raise awareness for this important condition.

❤️ What is Sickle Cell?

Sickle Cell is a genetic blood disorder that affects the shape of red blood cells, making it harder for oxygen to travel around the body. This can cause pain, fatigue, and serious health complications — and raising awareness helps families recognise early signs and access support sooner.

🍪 How We Raised Funds

Our amazing chef Becky baked a delicious selection of cookies, muffins, and flapjacks, which were a huge hit with families and staff. Alongside this, we held a nursery raffle with a variety of exciting prizes up for grabs.

Thanks to our families generosity, we will be proudly donating £224 to OSCAR Birmingham a charity dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by Sickle Cell.

🤝 A Special Visit

We were honoured to welcome some representatives from OSCAR Birmingham, who spent time speaking with our parents and team about the charity’s work, the support they offer, and key signs to look out for. Their presence made the event even more meaningful.

🌟 Father’s Day Celebration at Little Adventures! 🌟

We had such a lovely morning celebrating all our amazing dads and father figures with a relaxed continental breakfast and a warm, social start to the day.

Taking time to enjoy breakfast isn’t just about food — it’s about starting the day right, fuelling our bodies, and giving ourselves a calm moment before the busyness begins. Sharing that moment with others makes it even more meaningful.

This morning gave our dads and parents the perfect chance to:

- Connect with others — building friendships and community through simple conversation

- Enjoy a mindful breakfast — supporting energy, focus and wellbeing

- Start the day positively — setting a warm tone for the rest of the day

The children loved seeing their dads spending time in the setting, and the atmosphere was full of smiles, chats and that lovely sense of togetherness that makes mornings like this so special.

🌞✨ A Huge Thank You to Our Little Adventures Families! ✨🌞

This evening we proudly hosted our Summer Menu Tasting and Parents’ Evening, and what a wonderful turnout it was. It’s always a joy to open our doors and share a little piece of nursery life with the families who make our community so special.

Our amazing Chef treated everyone to a selection of the children’s favourite dishes from our menus — giving families a real taste of what their little ones enjoy each day:

- Chickpea Coconut Curry Noodles
- Homemade Carrot Cake
- Blueberry & Banana Muffins

Seeing families enjoy the same meals their children love helps build trust, transparency, and confidence in the nutritious food we serve daily.

Parents’ Evenings are such an important part of early childhood education. They give families the chance to:

- Celebrate their child’s achievements and see how far they’ve come
- Understand their learning journey, interests, and next steps
- Strengthen the home–nursery partnership, which is proven to boost confidence and wellbeing
- Share insights that help us tailor support to each child’s unique needs
- Feel connected to the routines, relationships, and experiences shaping their early years

When families and practitioners work together, children thrive — emotionally, socially, and academically.

🌿 Mental Health Awareness Week at Little Adventures 🌿

Last week, we’ve been focusing on something incredibly important to all of us — mental health and wellbeing. At Little Adventures, we believe that supporting emotional wellbeing starts early, and it starts together: with children, families, and our team.

💛 Supporting Our Families

To remind our families that their wellbeing matters too, we created our Reminder to Take a Break Bags — small, thoughtful packs designed to encourage parents to pause, breathe, and take a moment for themselves. Parenting is big work, and you deserve those moments of calm.

We were also incredibly touched to receive so many Appreciation and Positive Affirmation Cards from our families. Your words mean more than you know. They remind our team why we do what we do, and they help us feel seen, valued, and supported.

Please do take a moment to read the messages in the photos — they reflect the kindness, gratitude, and partnership that make our Little Adventures community so special.

🌱 Activities with the Children

Throughout the week, we explored activities that help children understand feelings, build resilience, and develop positive mental health habits:

- Feelings Check‑In Circles — Children shared how they were feeling using visual prompts, helping them build emotional vocabulary and confidence in expressing themselves.

- Mindful Moments — Short breathing exercises, sensory play, and calm spaces encouraged children to slow down and notice their bodies and surroundings

- Kindness Challenges — Children took part in small acts of kindness, from helping a friend to sharing toys, reinforcing empathy and positive relationships.

These activities support children in:

- Developing stronger emotional awareness
- Building confidence in expressing their needs
- Strengthening friendships and social skills
- Learning strategies to calm their bodies and minds
- Feeling safe, supported, and understood by the adults around them and for our families, this week has been a reminder that your wellbeing matters too.

🌟 Introducing Our Home Learning Kindness Bags 🌟

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been supporting some of our children with big feelings and big behaviours — things like biting, finding it tricky to share, or not yet understanding personal boundaries. These are all completely normal parts of early development, and with the right tools, children learn how to manage these moments safely and kindly.

To help with this, we’ve created a set of Home Learning Kindness Bags. These include lots of prompts and resources to help support your child and their emotions at home.

We are already using these tools in nursery, and they’ve been really helpful in supporting children’s understanding and confidence.

We have attached a Parent Guide in Supporting Big Emotions and what the resources inside the bag will help with!
