Good luck to all the teachers returning to school this week. I have the joy of an INSET day tomorrow. These can be useful and inspiring but others can find them pointless or overwhelming. Whichever camp you fall into, you’ve got this!

It’s at this point in the summer holidays that teacher guilt, panic or apprehension can creep in. You’ve done absolutely nothing to prep for the year ahead during your holiday. 😱 And you know what, that’s ok! Remember, we cram a year’s worth of work into 10 months! It’s exhausting! After 20 years of teaching, I still get these feelings! But I have learnt how to deal with them better. To help me prepare for the inevitable return, I reset the alarm and start getting up earlier ⏰. I also set goals and plans for the day- not necessarily school tasks, but things I want to do to bring structure back into my day. Making a priority list of school tasks I have to get done before I return and then setting days aside for these to be done. 📚📒✍️Usually with a treat day planned for the day after! 😊
What do you do to start preparing for your return to school?
