📚 Hey everyone! So, I’ll admit, I haven’t been great at posting book reviews recently! 🙈 But fear not, I’ll get to it, just need a few extra hours in the day, you know? 😅 But I really didn’t want this week to pass without shining a light on Children’s Mental Health Awareness week. 💡
I wanted to share a book that’s been incredibly helpful for me as a parent. Layla has been having a tough time settling into school since year one, struggling with low self-esteem and anxiety. It’s been a challenging journey, to say the least. 😔 My once confident little girl now battles with her mental health, and it’s been heartbreaking to witness. I still think there’s a stigma surrounding children’s mental health, especially in certain communities.
But there’s hope! Layla’s doing much better lately, thanks to incredible support from her school and other services. 🌟 One thing that’s made a big difference is the book “Helping Your Child with Fears and Worries” by Cathy Creswell and Lucy Willets.
It’s been a lifesaver, helping us develop strategies as a family to manage Layla’s worries. Plus, it’s given me valuable insights into my own anxiety. If you’re going through something similar, I highly recommend giving this book a read. And remember, be kind to yourself along the way. 💖

Yay or Nay to Elf on the shelf?
If you want to embrace the magic and have a mischievous elf keeping you on your toes, I’ve spotted these in for £4 each! Bargain!
*Note- these are not the original “elf on shelf” brand they are a lot more expensive and representation is 👎🏽
Although It’s a hard no from me. I know it might sound a bit scrooge but I promise you I’m not. I love me a Christmas tradition and I’m actually pretty excited to see all the Christmas stuff starting to appear in the shops. But Elf on the shelf is not something I want to introduce to our house. It seems like so much pressure! Another thing to remember, I’d definitely be the mum waking in the middle of the night shouting out “f**k I’ve forgot to do elf on the shelf” 😂
Anyone already do it or tempted?

Okay so when it comes to buying for other people's children before making an impulse dash for the kids' aisle in the supermarket and grabbing yet another plastic toy, STOP!
Of course we're biased, but we think gifting books is a much better idea. Not only do they help kids develop the reading, listening and imagination skills they so desperately need - they also don't take up unnecessary space. I'm already breaking out in cold sweats thinking about trying to find the room to fit yet more toys.
