When someone pushes our buttons, it's hard not to automatically react. When another person says or does something we don't like, we might feel angry, upset, or anxious.
Our automatic "mindless"reaction to that feeling might be to yell at the person, make a snide comment, or avoid the person altogether.
👍Using mindfulness tools, rather than automatically reacting, we can learn to choose a meaningful response.
👉Since this is very difficult in the moment, the first step in mindfulness is often to simply STOP and take a pause before reacting.
👉This may be a few moments or a few days if needed. In the pause, you may take some deep breaths and allow your feelings to pass by like a wave 🌊🌊🌊Once calm, you can mindfully choose how to respond in a way that is in line with your intention for the relationship👈

In reality, the maternal relationships is the most complex relationship we experience within our time on earth.

May we learn from our mother’s lives. And have the courage to create life on our own terms


Tips for healing from emotional wounds
✨Take baby steps : Making micro-changes small, manageable, incremental changes create feelings of success, hope, and encouragement that are important to carry you through your healing process.
✨Remember no need to heal 100% to improve the quality of your life👈
✨Be patient and persistent : Take it one step at a time and you will notice small improvements in your mood, ability to cope with triggers, relationships, self-esteem, and ability to complete your daily activities.
✨Set realistic expectations : I'm a big believer in the importance of setting realistic expectations. When we dont, we end up disappointed and frustrated often at ourselves, which doesnt help us heal. Progress is more likely to be two steps forward and one step backward.
✨View setbacks as part of the process and learning opportunities : Instead of criticism & judgement of setbacks or relapses, accept that they are part of the process and challenge yourself to be curious about what you can learn that will help you move forward and toward greater healing and self-love.
✨Prioritize self-care and self-compassion :When you ask a lot of yourself, you need to give a lot to yourself. And working on emotional healing takes an awful lot of energy, time, and sometimes money. Take the extra time to listen and take good care of yourself.
✨Be willing to process your feelings about the past. Trying to avoid whats happened in your past doesnt work. To process the feelings the pain must be felt to help the heal journey.
✨Ask for help :I hope youll look at it as another form of self-care and ask for the kind of help that best meets your needs👈

A smile spurs a chemical reaction in the brain, releasing certain hormones including dopamine and serotonin. Dopamine increases our feelings of happiness. Serotonin release is associated with reduced stress✨
✨Does smiling make you feel happy?
Smiling more often 😁even if you don't feel like it, might actually make you feel happier. According to a report published in the peer-reviewed scientific journal Nature Human Behavior, triggering certain facial muscles by 😁smiling can "trick" your brain 🧠into thinking you're happy✨

Most people do these 3 things when they cry:

1. Apologize “I’m so sorry”
2. Block the natural release (suppression)
3. Self shame “I hate that I cry so easily”

This is to be expect in a culture that doesn’t understand the nervous system and how it works. And, that shames people for natural human reactions.

When we experience fight or flight, our body goes into sympathetic energy.

We can go into fight or flight from:
- hearing about layoffs at work
- getting into conflict with a co-worker
- a partner raises their voice at us
- our mother in law brings up a subject we don’t want to talk about

Fight or flight is when our body senses external danger and: mobilizes or immobilizes to escape that danger.

Sympathetic energy will: dilate our pupils, increase heart rate, raise blood pressure, and increase sweating. All of this happens (usually beyond our awareness.)

Sometimes all of that sympathetic energy triggers a tear response. You’ll know it’s happening when you get a flash of anger and tears flood your eyes...

This is an attempt to discharge that energy— the body attempting to self regulate.

Let the tears flow.

Your body is working *for* you.

Notice how calm and regulated you feel after
