Good morning.
This week we are focusing on settling all the new children into the nursery, working with them to see what they like and dislike, getting them used to the nursery routines and giving them the best start. By the end of this week, all children will have a key person. A key person is the person who supports your child's learning and helps them to develop in their skills and complete any paperwork. But all staff, including the manager Louise and Dharmita are supporting children throughout the day.
For the older children (3-4 year olds) , we will be doing more focused activities.
Recycling week
It is national recycling week this week across England. To encourage recycling in the nursery, we ordered a new recycling bin at the nursery. We are encouraging the children to learn about the different things we can recycle, how to raise awareness of recycling our lunch box packaging and how recycling benefits the environment. We are doing this through sorting out packaging of what can be recycled and what can't, separating the packaging in groups of plastic, metal, or paper. We are learning to create new things from recycled materials such as musical instruments.
Reception challenge
After months of research and government guidance that was released last month, we have created a reception challenge. Each week, we will focus on one thing we would like the children to practice within nursery and to carry on at home.
This week we are focusing on finding out coats. As we have new children in nursery, it is important to recognise their belongings such as their coats. Through games, we will support children recognise and find their coats with ease.
