Lingotot Bexley

When you are learning a language it’s good to know the important words! Lingotot Bexley makes language learning fun from an early age!
Well what can we say about the first ever Chislehurst Car Show!

The Visit Chislehurst team had so much fun yesterday. The sun was out (although a little windy), the food and drinks were flowing and of course the cars were AMAZING!

I think it’s safe to say that this might be a yearly event and added to the chislehurst events calendar!

This event wouldn’t of been such a great success without the hard work of so many individuals and organisations. And we have to say thank you to them all!

Friends of Chislehurst Recreation Ground for co-hosting and helping with the organisation of the event

Lollipop Events Ltd for all of their hard work behind the scenes

The Police Cadets for marshalling the event throughout the day!

Lingotot Bexley for running our kids craft stall.

A special thank you to all of the wonderful volunteers who worked tirelessly in the run up to this event and all day yesterday.

The final thank you goes to all of the owners and their wonderful cars. It was fantastic to see such a variety of vehicles on show!

We hope you all enjoyed the day! If you would like to share your pictures with us, please add them in the comments section below.

If you didn’t show your car this year and would be interested in attending future events please email - [email protected] quoting “chislehurst car show 2024” we will then add you to our database.

Here’s to The Chislehurst Car Show 2024!!

There will be information and activity stalls, including Help Save Lives Medical & Training Supplies, Lingotot Bexley, Roar Music Academy, Active Horizons, Your Floating Bed and we have literally everything crossed that it will be dry enough to have the bouncy castles!

Test run of a fougasse recipe I will be teaching at Lingotot Bexley 's holiday camp tomorrow- very excited!

I love learning new skills along the way when it comes to my business. I can cater for any dietary requirements, I just need notice so that I can make the session accessible to all 👩‍🍳

Looking to collaborate with small, local businesses 👋

I am spending some time planning for future workshops and will be running some holiday camps during the Summer holidays.

I would love to offer some 'special events' by collaborating with other small businesses.

I'd really love to hear from anyone who could offer:

⛑️ a first aid session suitable for primary aged children. Mini First Aid South East London & Dartford not sure if you can help?

🦔🦎🐸 an animal encounter

A sports related event (needs to be inclusive, suit ks1 and ks2 and ideally offer a number of different sports) Sports 4 Tots South East not sure if this is of interest to you?

Creative activities different to the day to day craft activities we would already have available.

Maybe a local florist who can tailor a session to suit this age range?

Or a face painter who can host a hands on session suitable for primary aged children?

Languages are sorted by the lovely Lingotot Bexley 🇫🇷🇪🇸

Of course I'm happy to talk to any other small businesses that may be able to offer a unique event too 😊

Please feel free to email me at [email protected] or tag any potential small businesses for me to get in touch with.

Many thanks 👩‍🍳

The best way to end a week is with a new school launch and today was the turn of Crook Log Primary School!

Thank you to Jade from Theatre Box and Sarah from Lingotot Bexley for coming in and doing tasters for the children - we all had a great afternoon doing lots of CU activities and we look forward to welcoming lots of KS2 children to Children’s University!

A huge thank you to the Learning Destinations who provided “taster” sessions throughout the morning - Prince and Shawn from ASG Community Gymnastics Club, Raman from The Creation Station Welling, Sarah from Lingotot Bexley, David from Tan'Gun Taekwondo Academy and Kayla from superstarsportda! It was such a fun morning!

If your child attends Belmont Academy and you would like to sign them up, please see the emails from the school with details of how to do this!

I hope your children enjoy their rentrée this week. My two have ventured into Year 6 and Year 3's pretty terrifying realising she will be in secondary this time next year, and that I now have 2 in KS2.

In French 🇨🇵 la rentrée literally means the return, but is used in September to mean back to school, and for many back to work after the long summer break.

We met a French family on holiday so we exchanged cute bonne rentrée messages this morning as their son starts 6ième (our year 7).

Did you know that France, Spain and Germany don't have an August Bank Holiday?

Whilst they share our Easter and Christmas holidays, others vary and aren't always on a Monday.

For example, Spain and France have many Catholic holidays to celebrate certain Saints and some Bank Holidays are just regional, not national.

What do you have planned for your August Bank Holiday? The hubby and I dropped the kids at my parents' yesterday to give us a chance to catch up with work but today we are hoping to paint 🖌️ our garden fence. Wish us luck 🍀

We are so grateful for reviews and we certainly don't take them for granted. Huge thank you to Helen for this review.

We are trying to build our portfolio of Google reviews, so if you have been to one of our parent-child classes, have been taught by us in a nursery setting, at school or at a camp, please do consider popping us a Google Review. There is a link in my Bio.

It wasn't meant to be for our Lionesses but one of our teachers, Laura, can celebrate that Spain's Ladies "las soñadoras" are World Cup Winners!

Felicidades la Roja!

The new parent-child classes for 0-4s will be back the week beginning 11th September and classes are now open to public booking.

We are immersive but no prior knowledge of Spanish or French is required.

There are over 120million Spanish speakers in Mexico but it is said that by 2050, the US may overtake them and have more Spanish speakers.

Have you ever been to Mexico on holiday? Yo no, pero me gustaría ir allí!

Michelle is from a town called Puebla and she has been teaching me so much about their customs and culture. We like to share this in our classes.

Giving children the tools and opportunity to explore and practice the new language they have learnt is so important.

At our recent Summer Camp we created a French Market for the children to experience where they wrote their own shopping lists, then they went shopping, all in French!

Seeing their faces when they managed to buy something was incredible.

We offer this experience to Primary Schools as one of our language enrichment days, so if you want your school to have this opportunity next term, please get in touch.

It is actually summer, right? I mean what the heck? I had plans to spend the school hols in the shade with a Pimm's in hand, watching the kids in the paddling pool, and so far that is yet to happen and I am ready to submit a complaint. Mums/dads...are you with me? I reckon we are due a refund.

Holidays are coming, the weather is warmer (well it's trying) and that definitely means I am getting more requests for ice-cream.

Make sure you know how to say ice-cream before you go abroad this year...if you have little ones I guarantee you will need it.

Are you heading abroad this summer? Whilst I am sure you will have sorted the hotel, flights, currency, and maybe even started many of you have started learning the local lingo?

Don't be like that hideous shouty tourist in my last Reel, start learning some basic phrases and make sure you teach the kids too.

Pick up the basics like "please", "thank you", "where is", "how much" and you will be amazed the difference it makes. Give the children some phrases and watch them grow in confidence.

Don't forget we have a French Summer Camp running from 24-28th July themed around holidays.

I remember going to Brittany when I was my son's age and would go and get the "poulet et frites" with my cousin. I felt so proud.

For grown ups, Duolingo can be a good start but there are lots of other apps out there. Face to face I highly recommend and Language for Fun in Bromley

We are back with a whole week of our fantastic French camp this summer from Mon 24th to Fri 28th July at Red Hill Primary School.

We have 5 new amazing themes and can't wait to get started.

For FAQs scroll to find out more about the camp.

Places are booking up fast so don't leave it too late.

If you have been to one of our classes, we would be extremely grateful if you could pop onto Google and add a review for us?

Merci / Gracias / Danke

I have now joined the glasses wearing crew and am sporting these bad boys. Thanks so much for all the lovely comments I have received about my new face apparel.

It's taking me a while to get used to them, especially as they are varifocals (I hit my 40s and can't read anymore) so bear with me if I look like a confused elderly lady for a while trying to get the right angle.

NEW TERM for 0-4s
We start our new 7 week term on Monday 5th June so make sure you book. Check out our Bio for the link.

Our community classes are for babies, toddlers and preschoolers where the parent/guardian/carer stays too and joins in.

In your chosen language we introduce new words each week around a particular theme. We sing nursery rhymes, play games, use instruments, and bounce things on the parachute. We also have a craft which supports the language we have learned in the session.

Then we settle down with a snack whilst the class leader reads a story.

It is a relaxed immersive way of introducing your child to a second or third language, whilst giving you some tools to support the learning at home.

Sometimes the school bear comes for a visit...we were very grateful to Esme for bringing hers along to learn some French with Michelle.

Happy smiley faces at the end of a Spanish community class. How lovely to make new friends whilst learning a language.

We teach French and Spanish in a number of nurseries in the area and we absolutely LOVE it. The children are so receptive to our fun songs and actions and it is so rewarding to see them learning, repeating and singing along in the target language.

Do you run a childminder or nursery which would benefit from weekly language classes? Do you wish your children's nursery offered a language?

Our amazing classes will be starting again this Monday 17th April.

The BIG NEWS is that one of our venues is changing...we have had to say goodbye to Liz Burville Performing Arts but are delighted to be starting at The Star at Sidcup Place instead . Not only a fab warm venue but also somewhere for mums to have a cuppa and a chat afterwards. Swipe to see.

The other news is that as we know there are now 3 Bank Hols in May and it will disrupt 2 of our classes. For those weeks, we arent charging of course but we will send home some videos to watch to keep the language going. Photo courtesy of

I am often asked my pupils where in France I am from, or whether I have French parents. The answer is no, I am English, and have no French or German relatives.

I simply fell in love with learning languages and found I had a talent for it at school. I got GCSEs in French, German, Spanish and Latin, took French and German at A-Level then went to Uni to study a BA in Interpreting and Translation, followed by an MSc in Translation Technology (and yes part of my degree was a study of the translations of Harry Potter...I am that geek and I could bore you with it for hours).

I watch foreign TV and films for fun. I find subtitle translations fascinating. Am I done learning new just can't make my mind up on the next one. Mandarin, Japanese, Italian? What language would you choose?

I knew I wanted to use languages somehow in my future.

This week our wonderful Laura finished her maternity cover at East Wickham Primary Academy Welling. She has had an amazing year covering their Spanish provision and was a bit tearful leaving. Look at some of the lovely things she received. Welcome back Mrs Ermis... Señora Raposo did you proud.

I am so proud of my team: Lyndis (mum), Laura, Ellie, Julia, Michelle, Emma, Grace, Eva and my business partner Jaclyn.

It has not been easy running a small business over the past 3 years, and especially with Primary schools struggling in the current climate, but the team have got me through it.

I love seeing friendships blossom at our Holiday Camps. Some children come knowing no-one at all and before long they are playing happily with someone new, choosing to sit with the at craft time, or sitting having a picnic together.

Sign your children up to our amazing Holiday Camp this Easter via the link in our Bio.

We are so proud to have amazing relationships with many local schools.

These are the local primary schools where we currently provide their MFL provision (Spanish or French) or where we run After School Clubs or our Holiday Camps.

Does your school need help with their language offering? Are the teachers struggling or confused about fulfilling the Ofsted expectations?

I am so proud to have won an award at our Lingotot Annual Conference 2023 on Saturday.

At the event during the day I led a session about Networking as part of my role as Lingotot Community Champion.

Did you know I joined the Lingotot family 6 years ago when Freya was 3.5 and Xander just 11 months old? Xand is now 7 and Freya turns 10 next week.

Excitingly I have just signed my franchise renewal which means they will be 12 and 15 when its up again. Yikes!!

Thats another 5 years of being able to do school drop offs and pick ups, another 5 years of being able to attend their shows and reviews and take them to clubs.

I am so glad I stepped away from life in the City and am my own boss with the flexibility to choose her own hours.

Look how proud Joel looks with his Star of the Week certificate. Thanks .fran for sharing.

We love to celebrate when our Lingotots have a great lesson and have shown good listening and participation but even more when they speak to us unprompted in the target language.

One of our amazing tutors, Michelle, is Mexican and this celebration is close to her heart. Here is a little explanation from her:

"We all have someone who we would like to see again at least for a moment.

In November the 1st and 2nd in Mexico, we have a tradition where we pay tribute to our ancestors and it is called ´Día de Muertos”.

We believe that God grants the souls of our loved ones, the permission to visit us during those days back on earth. So to host them, we prepare a joyful altar full of candles, their favourite food and the traditional “pan de muerto”, drinks, objects that represent their hobbies and also items that will be helpful in their journey back to earth and way back to heaven.

People write funny poems and there are parades too.

This tradition is an amazing opportunity to celebrate our predecessors' lives!"

Thank you Michelle. If you want a way of showing this festival to the children...the Disney film CoCo is an amazing representation.

Our Lingotot Dartford franchise are restarting our amazing Generations programme at a brand new care home!

We are looking for parents with children aged 0-8yrs, to join us for a FREE weekly Spanish class with the residents of Eglantine Villa care home in Horton Kirby!

Running every Thursday at 11am from 3rd November, and lasting approx 45 mins, we can't wait to join three generations together for a fun filled Spanish class full of songs, games, stories, playtime and fun.

Spaces are limited, so please ensure you book to secure your place.

Please note that the class will be held in the lounge area of the care home with some of the residents present (along with their care workers).

29/10/2022 extra hour in bed!

Don't forget to turn the clocks back 1 hour tonight.

I am lucky that my children are almost 7, and 10 so I will get a lie in this year!! I promise it gets easier!!!
