We were slightly worried at Beoley First School today when headteacher Mr Philp was replaced for the day by Professor Severus Snape. The children were all joyfully dressed up in a fantastic range of costumes from a really wide range of books, yet here was Professor Snape ruining the vibe with his serious face and desire to turn all activities into 'Potions lessons'. We really hope he won't be back tomorrow...

There was lots of creativity on show during World Book Day as many children created a 'book in a jar' summing up a favourite story they have read with images and objects placed artistically inside jars that are now on display in the School Hall. Well done to all who contributed.

Year 3 and 4 had a great time at Attwell Farm Park earlier this week. The learning about the rainforests was particularly inspiring with the children handling a range of insects and arachnids that come from warmer countries. It was great to learn from 'Bug expert' Paul who has visited rainforests all over the world and has a particular academic interest in arachnids - there is even a spider named after him!

Today was day 1 of our new caterers and today children at Beoley have been introduced to the sophistication of a salad bar!

There was a great selection of food on offer - the children ate well and we heard the word 'delicious' repeated several times! Thank you abm catering

It's the weekend and time to think about promoting some events that are happening at Beoley Village Hall...

Coming up very soon it's the Village Cinema Night on Friday 16th January (see the attached poster).

The Village Hall Events team are bringing regular live music events to the Hall and already have arranged a Taylor Swift Tribute act on 7th February (which has already as good as sold out!). They are also organising a Shania Twain tribute evening on 27th June. In addition to these events, the Hall has been booked by several bands/acts - Rea Unloaded (A Chris Rea Tribute) on 14th March and Crawdaddy (a Birmingham based band who play hits from the 60's & 70's) on 28th March.

Following the success of Art Day on Tuesday, some classes have held their Design Technology week in the subsequent days. We've had some great practical skills on show: our Year 2 children learning to sew and using this skill to design and make their own pouch. Meanwhile our Year 3s and 4 have been investigating moving vehicles and design a method for propelling them.

It was great to see everyone back in school today for our first day of lessons in 2026.

The snow was an added highlight to our first day back, and while there wasn't much of it, it didn't stop the children's creativity, which included several tiny snowmen and a snow dog!
