Are you passionate about removing barriers to accessing the Math’s curriculum in a creative and fun way?

Break Through School is an independent day school for children and young people with SEMH, ASD, and ADHD. We believe every learner deserves a safe, nurturing environment where they can thrive—and we’re looking for a Maths teacher who shares that vision and can relate Maths to real-life experiences.

This is more than a teaching role. It’s an opportunity to bring your subject expertise and your humanity into a setting where relationships matter as much as results. We need someone who is:

● Emotionally intelligent, aware and able to understand the impact of previous educational gaps and traumas, which affect behaviour, engagement and learning

● Skilled at building trust and creating calm and structured classroom where students feel safe to learn

● Resilient, reflective, and committed to meeting individual needs with creativity and compassion

Essential skills and experience:

● QTS/PGCE (or willingness to work towards this)
● This role requires Maths knowledge from KS1-4
● Excellent organisational and communication skills
● Experience working with SEND learners, particularly in SEMH contexts
● Experience and confidence in desecalation techniques
● Pastoral experience

Why join us?

At Break Through, staff wellbeing is a priority. We offer a competitive salary, a supportive team culture, and access to a wide range of personal and professional development opportunities.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of every learner. All staff share this commitment, and the successful applicant will require an enhanced DBS check. References,
safeguarding declarations, and social media checks will be completed prior to interview.

Applications close on 01.02.26. We may close early if sufficient applications are received, so please apply promptly.

To find out more, contact: Principal Ruth Elliott on 01322 440049.
