Lessness Heath Primary School A vibrant, forward thinking primary school where inclusivity and nurture guide everything we do.

Lessness Heath is a vibrant, forward thinking Primary School where inclusivity and nurture guide everything that we do for the children in our care, for the diverse wider community that we support and in the development of our innovative teaching team. We pride ourselves on always trying to look to the future in the pedagogy that we use and the educational offer we provide as well doing everything that we can do enrich our team's wellbeing and work-life balance. Our teachers actively engage in action research, helping to shape the future direction of the school and keep us moving forward at all levels. The school itself benefits from extensive grounds which we believe in using to enhance lessons for children in all year groups, giving our learners outdoor experiences and ownership over zones that they manage themselves. Across the school, our supportive and caring team work hard for each other every single day, in turn helping our children to develop personally and academically, forever learning about the wider world, each other and themselves along the way.

Last week in Science, Dove class took their learning outside to investigate how sound travels through solids. They learned that when the string is taut, sound waves travel more effectively as vibrations, creating a clearer and louder sound compared to when the string is slack.

Year 3 had an exciting start to their English learning this week with a HOOK lesson for their new model text, Treasure Island. The children discovered mysterious treasure maps hidden around the classroom and eagerly followed the clues, which led them to some treasure! This adventure sparked lots of excitement and curiosity, helping them immerse themselves in the story. The children then worked hard learning their new text and are now looking forward to watching the Treasure Island pantomime this morning.

Dear Parents and Carers

As you know, over the last few months we have been talking to the children about Rail Safety, earning our Bronze and Silver Awards. Following on from our assemblies and sending off the wonderful posters the children created, the Rail Safety Team have awarded our school, the GOLD certificate. Thank you to all the children who created safety posters, we certainly have a lot of talented artists in our school.

Our next learning project, will be about Water Safety with The Canal & River Trust with the help of The Amazing Adventures of the Explorers and the Curious Aliens! Over the next few weeks, all classes will learn about the fun to be had around water, but also be aware of the possible dangers and how to keep themselves safe.

Kind regards
