Butterflies Childminding is a language rich childcare setting. I provide an immersive, playful space that prioritizes meaningful adult-child conversations, storytelling, and songs.
We build and develop vocabulary and communication skills through high-quality language exposure, repetition, and responsive interactions.
We share interactive book reading and singing - exposing children to the rhythm, sounds, and structure of language.
A wide variety of vocabulary and language is introduced, extended and repeated across daily activities - including action words and feeling words.

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) includes a mandatory "Safer Eating" section designed to protect young children from choking, allergic reactions, and unsafe weaning practices.

At Butterflies Childminding:
🦋 I hold a valid Paediatric First Aid (PFA) certificate.
🦋 I’m always present in the room while children are eating- I sit facing the children while they eat - allowing me to consistently monitor for silent choking or allergic reactions and to also ensure children do not swap food.
🦋 Comprehensive dietary and allergy information is collected before a child starts with us.
🦋 All food provided by parents or myself is prepared to minimise choking hazards and high-risk foods like whole nuts and popcorn are strictly avoided.
🦋 Milk and water are always available throughout the day.
🦋 I work as a team with parents, adhering to the official nutrition guidelines to ensure children receive a healthy, balanced, and nutritious diet.

Children thrive in early years settings that are warm and engaging. However, they also need to be hygienic and well organised to keep little ones and staff safe.

Strong hygiene routines limit the spread of infection and enable the childcare setting to comply with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Hygienic practices also help families feel confident.

🦋At Butterflies, we’re well organised with hygienic practice. Each individual child has their own coloured cloths, bibs, changing mats and drinking and eating utensils. They also have their own travel cot, sheet and blanket as appropriate for the age of the child. Our practice supports children as they learn early self care skills. 🦋

One of the toughest things we do after having children is settle them into childcare. Starting a new childcare setting is a major milestone for both little ones and parents. To ensure a smooth transition at Butterflies, we start with gradual, phased settling-in sessions, keeping goodbyes short and consistent, and allowing children to bring a familiar comfort item if needed. I keep routines smooth and consistent - so important for them to feel safe, secure and loved. Valuable play time is rich, uninterrupted and joyful, allowing for precious concepts to be readily developed at my setting. Not all settings allow this - choose your setting carefully!💕
Our new little friend today has settled so well and had a fun time. The first time away from family and she did so well!
Credit goes to my established little friend too who has had me for most of the time to himself for quite a while and has been kind, caring and accommodating with a new member of the gang. 💕
