We hosted a zine making workshop for Women’s Work 26 in and will have a digital version of our collaborative zine online soon as well as a printable version if you want to print it yourself!

HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY FROM GIRLS ROCK SCHOOL NI!
We spent an afternoon creating art by hand and sharing ideas and it was incredible! We had art students, teens that run a fully offline zine with their friends, someone whose middle name was Dio (they were born the day he died how metal) a kid who learned about womens rights and zines from an American Girl Doll! Its is so important to have space like this to share our collective ideas and make art together and we are so grateful to the and Women’s Work for the space 🤘🏻

GRSNI x IWD2026: Zine Activism Workshop!

Join Girls Rock School NI this International Women’s Day 2026 weekend for free an afternoon of music, creativity and activism!

Suitable for absolute beginners to advanced zine-makers, this workshop will be fun & hands-on, touching on topics within intersectional feminism, women in music and activism. You’ll learn all about zines and work together on creating a collaborative zine to be distributed in person at the Oh Yeah Music Centre & online. We’ll have our trusty badge-maker available and the perfect feminist playlist to soundtrack your zine-making!

Saturday 7th March, 12pm - 3pm

It’s us!

Girls Rock School NI is one of the most inclusive and inspiring projects supported through Belfast's City Council's Bank of Ideas fund: a space grounded in community and the freedom to try things without needing to get them right first time. Founder Shannon Delores O’Neill, aka artist Sister Ghost, speaks to the power of creating rooms where young people can take up space, build self-esteem, learn new skills and form real friendships, all through the joy of making noise together 🎸 This Rock ’n’ Roll Weekends series may have wrapped, but Girls Rock School NI’s work carries on. We are beyond grateful we were able to put the ROCK ‘N’ ROLL WEEKENDS sessions on this last 4 weeks thanks to the Bank Of Ideas Fund and and to the members of the public who voted for our idea!

We want to thank our amazing tutors, Louise, Betsy Chelsea and Lauren who helped us each week. You rock!
The as our home base. The parents and guardians (special shout out to Steph for helping with the merch workshop!) for bringing everyone each week and for your wonderful feedback.

And finally to our GRS⚡️NI participants! We could not have asked for a better group! You came into our sessions with such enthusiasm and energy that not only inspired us but each other. We watched your confidence grow each week as you tried everything and took up the space that is rightfully yours! We saw you lookout for each other and not let anyone feel left out. We discussed our favourite bands, musicians, movies and created together! We hope these sessions showed you that you are the future of the music scene and that you can do anything you put your mind to. YOU ROCK and we hope to see you again 🤘🏻
