I’m a firm believer that the s**t you don’t deal with you pass on to your kids.

The behaviour you deem acceptable is also the behaviour your kids will see as acceptable.

Every action you take develops them as a person.
Every word, every behaviour, every reaction, every response…
Massive pressure? Yes
But it’s worth it.

No one is perfect including me but we have to set the bar for the next generation.

That’s why I am so big on standards in health, fitness, servanthood & the 3 pillars: physical, mental, relational.

I’ve been really battling with this and to be honest it breaks my heart to do it.
It all started when our main sponsor pulled out of the event for unknown reasons,
Then what followed was a chain of events that just solidified my decision among other personal commitments.

Truth be told,
This event wasn’t really aligning and out of ego and pride I was going to continue on with it.
But I’ve made the decision that it is simply not worth it.

There will be plenty more events to come & if you have bought a ticket, a full refund will be issued asap
Or you can grab a ticket for the BBQ DIP as a substitute ❤️

So I’m the problem.

Ya just can’t win.
Dedicated most of my adult life to volunteering, fundraising, training people free of charge & mentoring young men.
Yet people who sit on their armchair doing nothing but talk s**te have a cheek to call me out for offering a low hanging fruit to the problem we are facing.

But anyway,
Have some news coming soon we are developing a partnership that will really help some of these young guys that feel like they are a bit lost or left out and want to avoid falling into the trap these lads have fallen into.

Keep an eye out.

Few things I want to add here:

1. Not even a month ago we seen riots over immigration..
I felt unsafe in my own area with my daughter because of people from the area. Fact. So the immigration debate needs to stop it’s a distraction from the real issue here.

2. This isn’t the full answer to the problem, it’s one solution that would make an impact. You don’t fix these things over night but they also don’t just happen over night. This has been a long time coming.

Cuts, austerity, poverty & divide, we lack leadership.
Real leadership.
We also lack standards,
The state of the facilities in working class areas is shocking.
Policing is shocking.
The behaviour not just of the kids but adults watching is disgusting.

Yes there are solutions but we can’t avoid the conversation of consequences.

I’m going to do a full talk on this over time,
We actually have a few podcasts lined up to talk about the issues we are facing here with some quality guests.

I am upset that there’s more negative headlines about the place I call home, but I’m also excited to see what we can do to change it.
