We keep hearing that āmen donāt talk.ā
I donāt think that tells the full story.
Iāve sat in rooms with men who barely said a word at the start, then watched them speak openly when the environment felt right.
Not because they were forced to.
Not because someone told them they needed to āopen up.ā
Because they were given the space to share, without judgement, without pressure and without someone immediately trying to fix them.
And sometimes talking doesnāt look like sitting across from someone saying, ātell me how you feel.ā
Sometimes itās on a run.
In the gym.
Over a coffee.
In the car.
Standing beside another man doing something completely ordinary.
Maybe the question isnāt always:
āWhy wonāt men talk?ā
Maybe we should also be asking:
Have we created spaces where they actually want to?
