Fuinseog Woodland Crafts Fuinseog Woodland crafts is a small business set up in 2001 by Niall Miller & Brenda McLoughlin

Over the years I have collected many strange and twisted pieces of wood. I started woodturning and green woodworking, aiming to highlight the variety and colour in native timber species. In 2001, I started Fuinseog Woodland Crafts, and joined the Leitrim Design House. This has given me the opportunity to work with artists and designers in new and exciting ways. The range of items that I turn include: garden dibbers, seed dibbers and bird feeder mobiles for the garden, honey spoons, potato mashers, pot stirrers and garlic crushers for the kitchen. I have been commissioned to make an eclectic range of objects over the years – from door handles to chairs and stools, chalices, crosses, newelling posts, watch straps and fireplace pieces. Each piece is hand-finished with natural oils to show the true beauty of the diverse woods used. I am also involved in working with the Coppice association of Ireland in demonstrations and displays in green woodworking and coppice crafts using small-dimension native timbers. During summer festivals, I run children’s toy-making workshops, where children use wood and glue to make a variety of wooden toys under my supervision. Fuinseog Woodland Crafts now also includes our children, Rowan and Mollie. We regularly visit Heritage Days, Shows and Festivals, such as The Electric Picnic. We have offered many things such as Pole Lathe demonstrations, Dreamcatcher workshops and children's initials cut out on the Treadle fret saw over the years. Today we bring the Bemusement Games, a collection of handmade games including marble runs, musical pieces and other selections featured on this page.

Less than two weeks to go until the 2026 All-Ireland Hedge Laying Championships!

We're excited to welcome you on Saturday 26th September to Oghil, Monasterevin, Co. Kildare, W34 RF89. This free event is open to spectators from 10-4 pm.

Come and see expert hedge layers compete for the All-Ireland trophy! There will also be guided walks about native hedgerow planting and management.

The event will feature a host of local and national artists and makers with a focus on handmade crafts and sustainability! You will find stalls with willow weaving, copper smithing, stained glass, the South Kildare Beekeepers Association, Kildare Wildlife Rescue and more. Highlights include the Bemusement Games by Fuinseog Woodland Crafts, woodcraft demonstrations from Eoin Reardon, log hewing with Mícheál of Fiach Rua Timbercraft, and chainsaw carving by Owen Crawford Sculptures.

☕ Tea/coffee and food will be available. Attendees are encouraged to bring a reusable cup to minimise waste.
🛻 The recommended route is to approach via Junction 14 on the N7, particularly for any taller vehicles to avoid a low railway bridge.
