Would you like to guess what happens if you miss the deadline to register your child to sit the SEAG test?
Hopefully you guessed right and know your child won’t be able to sit the test - even if they change their mind at the last minute. 😥
SEAG are clear that it will not be possible to make a Pupil Application after the 5pm deadline on Friday 20th September 2024. The area on the website where parents complete to make a Pupil Application will not be available after the deadline has passed. 🙈
Last year a group of about ten) people missed the deadline and as a group we managed to battle and get it reopened but only after raising the issue publicly on the Nolan Show, Belfast Telegraph etc., and a large part of that argument was that it was the first year of SEAG and parents weren’t aware of the process. This year we won’t be able to make the same case, so make sure your registration is complete before the deadline.
I know there are some that don’t get this done and dusted on Day 1, but equally don’t leave it until the last minute in case something genuinely goes wrong and you miss the deadline. 😕
Same with Access Arrangements. 😏

💥 Key Dates (After Tests) 💥
People always like to look forward and rightly so..so this should help you know what’s coming up and how it fits together:
📌 SEAG Results Day - 27th January 2024 (accessed via the SEAG Portal)
📌 EA Portal Opens For Parents To Make School Choices - 30th January 2024. This is later than normal as in the past it's usually open before results day (which confused a lot of people but made sense as not everyone was waiting for the result to make their decisions), but this date is perfectly fine as the electronic portal is able to manage all forms easily.
📌 EA Portal Closes - 22nd February - so don't be missing this date.
Hope that helps.

💥SEAG does not include Grade 💥
Just being clear about this as I often read in comments about the grade, so before the big day, I just want to make sure everyone knows there will be no grade.
But that’s ok. what there will be is:
1. English Standardised Age Score
2. Maths Standardised Age Score
3. Total Standardised Age Score (which is the English and Maths Scores added together)
4. Cohort Percentile Ranking (CPR)
5. Cohort Band
Then to understand against AQE, the main things I would jump to (for simplicity) would probably be:
💥 Total Standardised Age Score - a score above 200 will tell you the child has done better than the average in NI and is equivalent to AQE 103
💥 Cohort Band - a Band 2 is at least AQE 103, and a Band 3 is at least 99 in AQE.
If you’re used to GL, then again use TSAS and the comparison will be:
💥 Total Standardised Age Score - above 206 is like the GL A grade, 197 is a B1 and 190 is a B2.
But try not to worry too much about the detail just wait (it makes more sense when you have the actual result for context) and in the meantime, just know that there’s no grade so don’t expect one. 🤓
