Last week, our Year 7 and 8 students were visited by Network Rail, who gave an informative talk on careers, the benefits of rail travel and opportunities which have been opened up with the new station opening next to school.

Most importantly though, they delivered some key messages about being safe around rail lines, the dangers of trespassing, how to report issues and staying safe near level crossings and on the platform.

Last week we had lots of discussions with students about our upcoming new house system.🤩

We tasked students to suggest three house names which we will then vote on as a school. Applications for leadership positions are to be made by emailing a short paragraph to explain why you want to be involved in this and what you could bring to the position. Applications need to be with Mr Bell and Mrs Kingsland by 5th June. Good luck!🍀

At the end of April, a group of 29 Year 8 mini mathematicians took on the UK Mathematics Trust’s Junior Maths Challenge. The competition involved sitting an hour long exam, with 2 questions designed to challenge maths understanding and problem-solving skills.

We are delighted that so many of our students achieved either a bronze or silver certificate for for exceptional performance. A special mention to Joshua F for achieving the 'best in school' accolade. 👏🌟
