What a fantastic way to end the week! 🌟📚

This week our learners have been busy developing their skills across English, Maths and Phonics through lots of fun, hands-on activities!

✨ We used clay to create our own imaginative creatures before bringing them to life through descriptive writing. We challenged ourselves to use expanded noun phrases, fronted adverbials, relative clauses and conjunctions to make our writing exciting and engaging.

➗ In Maths, we learnt how to use the bus stop method for division. It was amazing to see confidence grow throughout the session, with fantastic progress by the end!

📖 We also completed lots of phonics practice, applying our learning by reading short passages and strengthening our understanding of division through practical sharing equally activities.

* Looking at groups of objects to introduce multiplication.
* Simple addition using the column method.

🦁 Zoo Theme
* Developing confidence with the column method for addition and subtraction.
* Solving calculations to unlock the animals in the zoo.

🧪 Potion Class
* Writing our names.
* Practising number formation.
* Revising SATPIN sounds.
* Exploring number bonds to 5.

One of my favourite themes yet! 💛

Hands-on learning is always a favourite, and this theme gave our little learners so many opportunities to explore, create and build their confidence.

🎨 Creative activities that encouraged imagination and learning through play.

Always a fun session with these two! 🥳🧸

Today we had a party-themed session with all our cuddly toys joining in the fun! We focused on writing our names, letter formation, numbers to 10, finding one more and one less and sorting SATPIN sounds.

Of course, we had to finish with some biscuit decorating! 🍪 But don't worry—there was still plenty of learning involved. From communicating with each other, taking turns and including our cuddly toy guests, to developing fine motor skills and expressing creativity, every activity helped build important skills while having lots of fun!

✨What does learning look like in EYFS?✨

Learning in EYFS is all about exploring, playing, and having fun while building important lifelong skills! 🌟

Some of the things we've covered include:

• Developing fine motor skills to support early writing.
• Practising letter and number formation using sensory resources such as sprinkles, sand and foam.
• Recognising the **s, a, t, p, i, n** sounds and beginning to blend simple words like sat.
• Recognising numbers to 10.
• Exploring one more and one less.
• Comparing numbers, such as 2 and 5.
• Introducing measurement by using blocks to measure and compare the length of different objects.
