Today's Top Tip ✨
Struggling to keep your place when reading? Try tracking the text with your finger or a ruler!

This simple technique helps maintain focus and prevents your eyes from skipping lines, which is particularly helpful for people with dyslexia who can lose their place easily.

It's a small adjustment that can make a big difference to reading fluency and comprehension. Give it a try! 📚

Happy New Year from Dyslexia Bedford! 🎆

As we watch the fireworks light up the sky, I'm reflecting on an incredible year of supporting families and adults across Bedfordshire to understand their learning differences.

Thank you to everyone who has trusted me with their assessments, shared their stories, and followed along on this journey. Each conversation, each assessment, and each moment of clarity has been truly rewarding.

2025 brought new services, new connections, and so many lightbulb moments for the people I've worked with. I'm excited to continue making a difference in the year ahead – helping more individuals access the support and understanding they deserve.
Here's to a year filled with confidence, clarity, and celebrating neurodivergent strengths! ✨

Wishing you all a wonderful 2026!

🎄 Christmas & New Year Wishes 🎄
As we come to the end of the Dyslexia Bedford Advent series, I want to say thank you for being here, for reading, commenting, sharing, and supporting your children (and yourselves) so thoughtfully this December.

Wishing all families a very Merry Christmas and a hopeful New Year.

May the holidays bring moments of calm, connection, and rest after a busy term.

✨ Please note: I am now closed for the Christmas break and will reopen in the New Year.
Messages will be picked up then.

Here’s to 2026 bringing continued understanding, confidence, and the right support for learners with SpLDs.

Take care and enjoy the break 💛

🎄 I Spy Christmas A-Z! 🎄
Can you spot something beginning with each letter of the alphabet in this festive picture?

Alphabet knowledge and sequencing are fundamental skills that many dyslexic learners find challenging. Visual search activities like this are brilliant for:

✨ Strengthening letter recognition
✨ Practising alphabetical order in a fun, low-pressure way
✨ Building vocabulary
✨ Developing visual discrimination skills

The best bit? It doesn't feel like learning – it's just festive fun! Perfect for keeping brains active over the holidays without the pressure of formal "work."

How many can you find? Share your favourites in the comments! 🎅

✨ Did you know?

Dyslexia is often hereditary.
If your child is dyslexic, there’s a high chance another family member is too!

🎄 The Best Christmas Gift 🎄
Receiving feedback like this makes my heart sing! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

There's nothing more rewarding than seeing families gain clarity and confidence about their child's learning profile. Early diagnosis means early support, and that can make all the difference as children progress through their education.

Understanding how a dyslexic brain works isn't just about identifying challenges; it's about unlocking strengths and ensuring children can reach their full potential whilst enjoying their learning journey.

Thank you to all the wonderful families who've trusted me with their children's assessments this year. Here's to 2026 and helping even more learners thrive! 🌟

To all my brilliant teacher and support staff friends and colleagues – Wishing you a well-deserved, restful break! Remember, relaxation isn't just lovely, it's essential for learning and memory, something our wonderful dyslexic learners benefit from enormously.

Thank you to all the amazing children I've had the privilege to work with this term. Your creativity, resilience and unique strengths inspire me daily.

Enjoy the holidays everyone! 🎅✨

Today's Christmas wordsearch is more than just festive fun!

For some dyslexic learners, word searches can:
✨ Strengthen visual scanning skills
✨ Build pattern recognition abilities
✨ Practise letter identification in a low-pressure way
✨ Boost confidence through achievable success

You can work at your own pace, use colours to highlight finds, and celebrate each discovery. No time limits, no pressure, just festive problem-solving!
How many Christmas words can you find? 🎅

17/12/2025

You have 60 seconds to list as many Christmas words as you can beginning with the letter T.
Ready… set… snow! ❄️

🔢Christmas is full of maths!
Counting presents, sharing food, handling money, it’s all real-life maths.

Everyday experiences matter more than worksheets.

🎄 Try this at home:
Ask your child to estimate how many decorations are on the tree, then count together.
Estimation builds number sense in a low-pressure way.

🎄Fun, festive, working memory game without the pressure.🎅
I’ll start a list. Add one item and repeat the whole thing:
‘In Santa’s sleigh, I packed… a candy cane.’
Next person adds their item!
