Our Year 8 boys kicked their Future Skills Programme into top gear this week 🚀

From Creative and Cultural sessions to essential life skills and careers workshops, there was so much to explore 🎨💼✨

They also took time to look back on their Prep School journey, reflecting on favourite memories and writing heartfelt thank‑yous to their teachers 💙📚

And they’re not done yet — next week brings even more, including sport, art, a silly sports day and first aid training 🏅🎭⛑️

A brilliant finale to Prep School, all about building confidence, independence and enjoying these final weeks together 🌟

Our boys love to sing, so what better way to celebrate than with a Choral Extravaganza 🎶✨

From jazzy adventures with Jonah-man Jazz by our Year 3 and 4 Choir 🎷 to the wonderfully imaginative Captain Noah and his Floating Zoo performed by Years 5–8 🐘🐧🛶, it was an evening full of energy, creativity and joy.

With brilliant narration, colourful rainbows 🌈 and even a little rain (luckily only outside ☔), it was a fantastic celebration of singing and teamwork. We are so proud of every boy who took part 👏

Huge congratulations to Oliver (Year 8) and Jack (Year 7) on their fantastic win at the ISGA Junior National Finals ⛳️🏆

Playing at Radley College in torrential rain, and even pausing for thunder, the boys showed real composure and determination. Both placed in the top five, with some superb moments along the way, including a number of excellent birdies. Oliver finished runner-up individually, and together their combined scores secured the national title.

Up against some of the strongest school golfers in the country at the finals, the boys stepped up brilliantly when it mattered most.

It’s the perfect end to a brilliant season, having come through a strong league against Spratton Hall and St Edmund’s College to reach the final.

Preparation played its part too. Regular time in the school golf simulator helped both boys develop consistency and confidence, with sessions before school and at lunchtime making a real difference.

A fantastic achievement and a very proud moment 👏

Our Year 5 boys have been thoroughly absorbed in their latest DT project, designing and building their own ping pong ball catapults. 🔧

With a friendly competition to finish, there was a real sense of purpose from the start. Ideas were shared, designs tested and plenty of careful tweaks made along the way, all in the name of sending their ball that little bit further across the Great Hall.

When it came to launch time, the atmosphere said it all. A mix of excitement, laughter and just a hint of tension as each team put their catapult to the test. Friendly rivalry at its best, bringing out creativity, teamwork and plenty of joy in the process. 🏆

“Producing the ping pong ball launcher really improved my teamwork skills as we had to bring together our best ideas,” said Ernest. “I can’t wait to see what projects we have awaiting us next year and continuing to develop my skills and knowledge in DT.”

Huge congratulations to our Prep 1st XI on a brilliant week of cricket 🏏

Wins over King’s Grantham in the David English Cup and St Peter’s York in the IAPS Cup have booked the team’s place in both the Midlands Final and Finals Day! And the IAPS victory going down to the final over made it all the more exciting.

We are so proud of the boys, they have shown great sportsmanship and represented the school superbly, and we can’t wait to cheer them on in the two finals.

Our Year 3 boys stepped back in time on a Bunyan walk through the heart of Bedford 👣

Taking in the Bunyan Statue, the sites of the two prisons where he was held, and Castle Mound with its fascinating old map of Bedford, the boys explored the places that shaped Bunyan’s story.

A real highlight was visiting the Bunyan Meeting. The stained glass windows, telling scenes from Pilgrim’s Progress, sparked plenty of curiosity, and the chance to handle artefacts brought their learning to life. They also discovered lots of interesting facts, including Bunyan’s clever shoes that could fit either foot, and that he carved a flute from a chair leg while in prison.

A brilliant morning, bringing RE learning to life and offering an insight into Bedford and how it has changed over time ✨

We love it when boys go above and beyond 👏

Year 3 classmates Seb and Oscar Alp did just that, turning their Chocolate topic mini project into something truly special with a little help from friends and family 🍫💙

Our mini projects are all about sparking curiosity and encouraging boys to explore ideas more deeply, and these two embraced the challenge fully:

• researching chocolate
• making their own truffles
• organising a party for friends, family and neighbours
• designing invitations and signage
• setting up an online donations page
• running their very own “chocolate shop” 🍬

With the encouragement and help of those around them, they also offered soft drinks, ice cream and hand-picked wildflowers 🌼 and together raised an incredible £500 for Children with Cancer UK.

A brilliant example of initiative, creativity and kindness, along with some impressive entrepreneurial thinking.

Well done, boys 👏

Beating the heat and doing it for a brilliant cause! 💛

Huge congratulations to Tommy and Matt, who took on their first triathlon over half term (on one of the hottest days!) to raise an incredible £2,855 so far for CHUMS!

What began as a birthday challenge for Tommy, in memory of his dad, quickly became a team effort. Joined by twin brother Matt and friends Sachin and Arjun, making it a quartet of determined Bedford boys.

Tommy and Matt chose to support CHUMS, a local charity that has supported their family and provides vital mental health and emotional wellbeing services for children and young people across Bedfordshire.

Headmaster Ian Silk said, “Taking on a first triathlon, particularly in such heat, is no small feat. That they did so in memory of their dad, while raising such a significant sum, is truly inspiring. We are hugely proud of all four boys.”

Our Year 3 and 4 boys headed to Bedford Girls’ School for a brilliant World Cup-themed morning, full of creativity, teamwork and fun.

They discovered the fascinating story of the World Cup trophy, including its famous disappearance in 1966 (and its rescue by Pickles the dog 🐶), and its mysterious loss again in 1983.

Inspired, the pupils set about designing their own trophies, thinking carefully about values such as diversity, collaboration and kindness.

The fun morning also included a well-earned break for fruit lollies and time with friends and finished with a joyful song about inner strength and confidence.

Huge thanks to Bedford Girls' School for hosting such a special morning and for keeping everything running so smoothly despite the rain.
