The Good Life Garden, Bedford

Thanks The Higgins Bedford for having me this morning for Dino Planters, and to everybody who joined me!

Just a reminder that on the 31st we'll be holding our first Community Coffee Morning at Sheerhatch to raise money for the outdoor area. There'll be drinks, cake, and maybe a couple of crafts and gardening jobs!

It's been a tough Summer keeping on top of the watering at Queen's Park Family Hub, and our harvests have perhaps not been quite as bountiful as previous years, but we still managed to pick some delicious cucumber and tomatoes this morning! 🥒 🍅

(As you can see from the empty plate, they went down very well!)

I'm taking a couple of weekends off now, so our next Garden Club will be on Saturday 5th September 😁

What a fabulous (and hot...) day of Summer Fun Outside! 🌞

We explored the seaside with sand art and shell clay prints, had fun on our new obstacle course, played in the water, and REALLY enjoyed the mud 🤣

There's some space left at the afternoon session on the 28th August (for 3-8 year olds), though the morning is fully booked. Head to the link in my bio to book in!

DIY board games! This activity was so much fun, and perfect for keeping us in the shade on a day like today at Holiday Club ☀️

First we played The Good Life Garden's board game, then the children had a go at making their own - complete with dice (sawn and drilled with the palm drill!) Some children were kept busy all day long 🤣

And I can't even take credit for this idea, as it was from the brain of my 6 year old... Thanks Roo!

We had a visit from Young Carers Bedfordshire this morning! Making Elder beads was the highlight of the session, with one child announcing, 'I could do this all day!'

It was a busy morning at Garden Club today, both with how much we got done, and how many of you there were!

Harvesting the first tomatoes was a highlight 🍅 also found a sneaky cucumber after everybody had gone home 🥒

The garden is VERY thirsty, so if you happen to be at Queen's Park Family Hub for something, please do give the plants a drink (and thank you to those of you who have been doing that already, it makes such a difference !)

Thanks to a shout out on the Parenting Hell podcast (thank you Emily Rhian for very kindly messaging in!), we have a few new followers, so I thought it was probably about time to reintroduce The Good Life Garden!

Our first Holiday Club was so much fun! We foraged for blackberries and made pancakes with them, built a den, played a big game of Floor Is Lava, got muddy, watered the plants, decorated the tyres on our new assault course, and made some butterflies to hang up in the shelter.
