I'm a fully qualified teacher, who specialises in secondary English (Language and Literature: KS3, GCSE and A-Levels) education.

I have the capacity to also provide support in SATs (KS2, Year 6), GCSE and A- Level Sociology.

🙌🏾It's been a busy first couple of weeks back in the office! 🙌🏾

❤️We have a variety of learners in our cohort this year and we match the lesson to our learners! ❤️

📚Student number 1: has been out of mainstream education for a number of months and is slowly easing in and prepping for her exams. So far, she is doing exceptionally well through recapping devices and toying with synonyms!

📚Student number 2: is looking to improve his mock grades; tackling Language Paper 1 Q5 seemed like the obvious starting point. To help with motivation, we have included a little sweet treat to help with tuning into our five senses to support with descriptive writing. Heavily annotated marking is used in our tuition services to ensure students know exactly where they are doing amazingly and what they need to do to improve. Feedback is personalised for each individual student.

📚Student number 3: Starting them with a classic! Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. This scheme of learning starts with understanding contextual knowledge to help our younger students understand the significance of background information about the author and the influence that information can have on literature.

Term Dates🎃🎄

Please see the schedule for the next academic year!🌸

As a number of you are aware, I have moved in the education sector and I now teach adults! With this, my annual leave is not the same, which is why the breaks are longer, and I will not be taking any leave over Easter, to accommodate exams. Instead, I will be taking a break in June, to compensate for this. ☀️

Bank holidays still apply, however if you do wish to have a session and I am able to accommodate it- it will be charged at a higher rate (please check your contracts in regard to this).

BACK WITH A BANG💥

Well, we tried to stay away, and we just couldn’t! We really missed tutoring, and instead focused on making changes that meant we could do our passion once again! Thank you to everyone for being understanding of why we initially stopped trading. Having multiple chronic health conditions that affect your every day and never really knowing how you are going to feel or be is horrible, but you have all been so understanding of why we had to stop. Although we still have these battles, we appreciate that our clients always understand why cancellations or rescheduling may occur and are willing to work with that. You are the best and that has made us confident in coming back into it. We have made changes to support us in tutoring again and we can’t wait! A lot has changed for us, which has contributed to making this happen- so let’s get back to it!

I have some exciting news!👀

I’ll be releasing tutoring slots shortly after taking some time out from it in the last year. I thought it was the end of an era, but in reality, I have missed working with my students and look forward to welcoming old and new faces back into the office. 👩🏾‍🏫

Current Read: Not Without My Daughter (Non-Fiction)

Author: Betty Mahmoody

Great for someone who enjoys the following themes/genres: Real Life Events, Emotional, Tense, Inspiration, Hope

Having watched the film of the same title, I knew I would have to get my hands on the book too. Although I am still reading it, the book is an inspirational read about the differences between eastern and western cultures and the impact of cultural clashes and expectations.

I would recommend it for readers over the age of 17.

Recent Read: Hallowe’en Party (Fiction)

Author: Agatha Christie

Great for someone who enjoys the following themes/genres: Crime, Suspense, Murder Mystery

Agatha Christie’s novel has you questioning every character you meet as though you are about to start your own police interrogation. A young girl admits to witnessing a murder, although no one believed her when she said it; it is clear there is some truth to what she said as she ends up dead. But who is the murderer and have they killed again to save their identity?

Hi, it’s me again👋🏾🤭

I hope all of you have been well. Although I haven’t been tutoring, I have been trying to think of ways to support the community as much as possible, focusing on making education as accessible and affordable as possible; what better way to do that, than putting the resources in the community so anyone can access them!

Today, I went to Bedford train station and placed a number of books📚 into their ‘Book Exchange’ library📖. The goal, to help a range of people with reading! Sometimes, a book can make the journey go that much faster! A range of books have been added, so if you are interested in finding a good read for the journey, feel free to pick on up.

Each book that has been added from Ashmina's Academics has a little stamp in it, which says: ‘From the library of Ms Paul’, please let us know if you find one with the stamp. Hopefully we can help build a love for reading across Bedford and potentially beyond!

Thank you to everyone who has supported me over the last (almost nine) eight years! However, all good things must come to an end, please read the rest of the caption below, to explain this difficult decision.

Our Final Announcement

Thank you to everyone who has been part of our journey here at Ashmina’s Academics. For the last eight years (almost nine!) we have had the pleasure of working as a free lance tutor, a voluntary tutor and as a business.

After lots of thinking in the last year, during our slow down phase, we feel now is the right time to end this era of private tuition. We are so incredibly proud of our commitment to the local community and our establishment as a business in our lovely little town of Bedford. We have had the opportunity to support students all over the country too and we will be grateful to every single student and parent who has trusted us to support their children.

However, all good things must come to an end. Ashmina’s Academics has grown from a dining room session, to mobile sessions in your home, to a classroom experience and embraced the online sector too. Whilst we have supported tirelessly, now feels like a good time to take a step back and enjoy and embrace things in life that do matter most: family, friends and health.

Thank you to every single person who has supported our dream. Every single person who has provided a recommendation for us. Every single person who has said our name in a room full of opportunities. Every single person who has shown compassion in our hardest times. Every single person who has helped us get to where we are today.

Ashmina’s Academics was born in a 20 year old Ashmina’s mind and its fruition was everything we could have ever wanted and more. Now, almost nine years later, we feel it is time to say goodbye. The key to life is to ensure you never spread yourself too thin, and whilst the business has ensured we have supported students, we need to take this time back to focus on us too.

Thank you all for your support, you have no idea what it means to us at all.

Can you believe we are 5 today?!🎂

Thank you to everyone🥰 who has supported our journey over the last few years! I remember the day I registered ‘Ashmina’s Academics’ to become a business, and thought, ‘Can I do this?’

The short answer: Yes, yes I could.

As always, I’m so grateful to everyone who has supported me. My business has always been a dream, and a dream is nothing without the support behind it. Thank you❤️
