Parenting is tough but you can do this. Reading to your child is a skill that can be developed. Growing up in Trinidad I didn’t read much out side of academic books… if I read those either. 😅 As you know I grew up with Sickle Cell so school was at the bottom of the things I cared about.
Anyway my mother made it a point to at least read Bible stories to us almost every night. I loved my mum reading to us. It was just nice having her there between the boys room and the girls room. It was comforting.
Story telling is another form of developing imagination and vocabulary. I remember Uncle Calvert telling us stories at Vacation Bible School in the summer. He would draw the characters himself on a large paper board. These activities were fabulous. I think it fostered my imagination and inspired me to write stories. Thanks Uncle Calvert
I know your heart is towards your kids. One book at a time. One minute at a time. One day at a time. Give it a go. I promise you can developing the habit and you will see the benefit.
