Beccles Forest Schools

Beccles Forest Schools Learning in Nature CIC and Beccles Forest Schools: Nurture, Wellbeing, Play and Curiosity. We strive to bring this opportunity to our community.

We are a Community Interest Company (a social enterprise and not for profit) dedicated to bringing Forest School and Outdoor Learning to our community. Sessions run on The Wild Meadow, a beautiful re-wilding meadow off Beccles Common. We gather around the fire, cook food together, climb trees, craft with natural materials- and just generally have a wonderful time outdoors. Throughout the year we h

ave a wide variety of sessions for a wide variety of ages, from our Stay and Play sessions for 0-5 years with accompanying adult to our Wild Wellbeing sessions for ages 65+. Our Outdoors Early Years setting is something we are especially proud of, like nursery or pre-school but totally outdoors! And we have amazing links with local schools who come to visit us every week. We are a bunch of people who believe with the whole of our hearts in the Forest School Ethos. When a person can regularly spend time in nature, following their interests, within a community that cherishes them for who they are, that person will develop a deep connection with both nature and others, bringing them peace and wellbeing, and helping to protect our planet. NATURE * PLAY * WELLBEING * CURIOSITY

Vision Statement: To make every day we spend in the natural world an opportunity to explore our relationship with the nearby wild, and each other, creating sustainable wellbeing for all. Mission Statement: We are person-centred, embedded in the natural world, which meets the learning, development and well-being needs of us all. We celebrate the participants’ autonomy over the space and foster their innate curiosity and connection, in a community that cherishes them. We strive to ignite a passion for belonging to our long past, as part of nature. Our values are:
- Kindness, generosity and fairness
- Learning, in the widest sense of the word
- Free play & fun at all times
- Strong relationships & a sense of belonging
- An unconditional positive regard for all
- Integrity in all we do

We Are:
- Strong
- Resilient
- Credible
- Experienced
- Community-minded
- Flexible & responsive
- Passionate
- Diverse
- Empathic
- Reflective
- Supportive

17/08/2026

Dear parents/carers of 3 to 6 year olds,

- Does your child have an extensive collection of special sticks, stones and broken pottery that you regularly have to negotiate the location of, for fear of it taking over your house?

- Have you ever had to seriously consider hosing your child down before they come into the house? Do you feel inclined to whisper an apology to your washing machine when you put their socks in there?

- Has your child tried to sneak a family of woodlice or ladybirds into their bedroom? And did they all have names?

- When walking through the house, have you ever come face-to-face with your child, grinning, at your head height, proud of having scaled a door frame? Have you ever had to explain that the curtain pole won't take their weight?

If you've answered "yes" to any of the above, we might just have the perfect opportunity for your child!

With our eldest Kindergarten attendees moving into our older groups, we are excited to say we have 3 SPACES AVAILABLE in our Friday Kindergarten sessions from September.

Quick info:
- Fridays (term time)
- 9:00am to 2:00pm
- on the Wild Meadow, by Beccles Common
- ages 3 to 6 years
- £38/session, booked in half term blocks (£40 taster session available)
- Eligible families can claim back up to 85% for the cost of these sessions, and tax free childcare is accepted.

As part of being a Recognised Forest School provider, our Level 3 Leaders commit to professional development through the year. Today Po travelled to Bradfield Woods to spend the day learning more about Summer Tree ID. Andy taught us so much about tree identification, we learned a lot of technical language and put the ideas into practice in the classroom and then on a walk. It was wonderful!

Forest Fun Camp Week Two -it was the Saplings turn for a week in the woods. It was super hot, so water fights and dens to protect us from the sun were important. Fruit kebabs, mocktails and biscuits kept us hydrated and fed as played endless games, made potions, found wildlife and swung on swings in the breeze.
We can't wait to see what happens next week!

Forest Fun Camp One, last week, looked like this!

We're into Camp Two now and having a whale of a time 😁

Holiday Club is a brilliant chance for young people to meet new people, try new things, slow down and connect with nature. This summer sold out super quickly, so keep your eyes open for upcoming Saturdays and October Half Term.

15/07/2026

It was our last Stay and Play of the term today and we had to say goodbye to one of our group who is leaving us to start school - they've been coming for 3 years! We used natural paints, flower bashed flags, made clay critters and printed leaves on tiles. In the kitchen we served ice tea, ice coffee and fruit mocktails. We finished with a requested story 'The Gruffalo'! We hope everyone has a wonderful summer and we'll see you in September!

14/07/2026

Today was the last day of term for our Home Ed group and we celebrated the end of the school year with fruit mocktails, memories of the year drawn or written down, and t shirts designed then signed by each other. Some people got crafty with beads, tree climbing went higher than usual and den / space ownership was super important today. Po was arrested and put in prison, Lucy was invited into a top secret den, Julie was Chief Bead Threader and Alice learned the ins and outs of Plants vs Zombies in detail. It was a beautiful day with warm sun and a nice breeze, and it's hard to believe that when these guys return it'll be the start of the autumn. We all hope you have a wonderful summer!
