This week, Year 6 enjoyed a visit from Mrs Henderson and Miss Cooke from Whitburn Academy.

The session introduced pupils to the scientific calculators they will be using when they move up to secondary school. The children explored a range of calculator functions and developed their mathematical skills by practising how to find square numbers, calculate square roots, simplify fractions and work out fractions of amounts.

It was a fantastic opportunity for our pupils to gain confidence with new equipment and get a taste of the maths they will experience at secondary school. Thank you to Mrs Henderson and Miss Cooke for such an engaging and informative session!

Our Reception children have been busy learning all about spring and the lifecycle of a butterfly ๐Ÿฆ‹๐ŸŒธ

The children explored a range of creative techniques to produce some beautiful artwork, using tools such as bubble wrap, sponges, salad spinners, string strips and even potatoes to create different patterns and textures! ๐ŸŽจ

We are so proud of their creativity, imagination and enthusiasm during this topic. The classroom has certainly been full of colour and excitement! ๐ŸŒผ

In DT, Year 1 have been making fruit salads. They looked at a selection of healthy and unhealthy food and then took part in a taste test so they could decide which fruit they would like to use. They used a bridge cutting technique to ensure they were cutting safely and followed their plan to make a fun fruit salad.

As you know, our football team went unbeaten to win their league back in March. On Wednesday, they attended the Champions League presentation where they were awarded their trophyโ€”an incredible achievement that weโ€™re all extremely proud of.

They then went on to compete in the Champions League itself, finishing an impressive 4th out of all teams across South Tyneside. A fantastic accomplishment and something they should be very proud of!

Today, our Year 6 superstars showed the incredible talents that SATs donโ€™t test. We were blown away by the sheer variety of skills in the room!

Our classroom turned into a stage and studio as we enjoyed:

๐ŸŽค Beautiful singing and impressive guitar playing

๐ŸŽญ Show-stopping musical theatre and acting performances

๐Ÿ“ฃ High-energy cheerleading and skipping routines

๐ŸŽจ Stunning drawings and artwork

To celebrate all their hard work, we capped off the day with a well-deserved movie afternoon fueled by pizza and crisps! ๐Ÿ•๐Ÿฟ

๐ŸŒŸ So Proud of Our Year 6 Superstars! ๐ŸŒŸ
What a week it has been! Our Year 6 children have officially finished their SATs and we couldnโ€™t be more impressed with the effort, determination and resilience they have shown. They tackled every paper with a "can-do" attitude and a smile on their faces.

To celebrate their hard work, today has been all about fun and well-deserved rewards: ice lollies in the sun (and rain); time spent practising for our Y6 talent show and a huge highlight was handing out the Class of 2026 Leavers Hoodies. There were plenty of smiles as the children put them on for the first time!

Year 6, you have been incredible role models for the rest of the school. Take a deep breath, enjoy the weekend and get ready for the final few weeks of year six.

Well done, everyone! ๐Ÿ†โœจ
