Today I had the absolute pleasure of joining the Year 4 pupils at Birdwell School for a rather lovely journey through science, history, sound and wellbeing. 🫶🏼
And what a journey it was…
We travelled back over 4,500 years to ancient Egypt to explore the mystery of the King’s Chamber.
Then we became scientists
We explored vibration, sound waves and resonance, investigated how sound behaves in different spaces.
From there, we turned our attention to ourselves.
Through playful characters, we explored what happens in our brains and bodies when we’re feeling busy, alert, worried or safe — and how we can begin to notice those changes for ourselves.
And then we finished with a crystal singing bowl sound bath, giving the children the chance to stop, listen, notice and experience sound in a completely different way. ✨
So yes… a sound bath.
But also history.
Science.
PSHE.
Wellbeing.
Curiosity.
And a whole lot of fun.
☑️ Curriculum-linked learning
☑️ Hands-on science & sound exploration
☑️ History brought to life
☑️ Wellbeing & self-awareness
☑️ A memorable, experiential session for children
And I think the children’s comments say it better than I ever could…
“I loved the sound bath since it made me quite relaxed and it was really fun.”
“You are very good at making sounds with all of your instruments.”
“I really liked the parachute transporting us to the chamber because it made my hair go all static.”
“I loved the wind chime instrument.”
“It was really inspiring because you would never think of a cup made of clear quartz!”
“I was surprised by what the King’s Chamber looked like. I thought that it would have windows with bars.” 😂
Curious minds, brilliant questions and some very enthusiastic little sound scientists. 💛
If you’re a teacher looking for a different kind of curriculum-linked enrichment session that brings together science, history, sound and wellbeing, I’d love to bring The Mystery of the King’s Chamber to your school
