Thank you to everyone who joined us in London on Tuesday for our University of Bath alumni networking event. We had a wonderful time welcoming our newest graduates into the alumni community and seeing familiar faces.

It was inspiring to hear from Lucy Thomas and Ian Johnston, who shared how relationships, networks and connections have shaped their careers and opened up opportunities along the way.

"Channel 4 taking on the Paralympics was a real game-changer. Suddenly Paralympians had a platform and individual profiles. Before that, we'd often feature in a highlights package. London created an opportunity to enter the mainstream."

After graduating from Bath, Alexandra went on to compete at three Paralympic Games alongside sailing partner Niki Birrell, winning bronze at London 2012 and Rio 2016.

Today, she's using the lessons she learned from elite sport to tackle one of its biggest challenges: becoming more sustainable.

We're ecstatic that the University of Bath has been ranked 1st in the UK for happiest graduates and 8th overall in The Guardian University Guide 2027 😃

Professor Phil Taylor, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Bath, said:

"Being rated as the university with the UK's happiest graduates, alongside some of the strongest graduate employment outcomes in the country, shows the lasting impact a University of Bath education can have."

"I feel so incredibly grateful for my time at Bath, because the community between the students was so special."

More than two decades after graduating, Bath remains an important part of Ian's story. While here, he founded a football team and made lifelong friends, so many that their group trip to Greece totalled 58 people.

Since leaving, he built a strong career that has taken him to his current role – CEO Osprey Charging Network, one of the UK’s largest EV charging networks.
