Dragon enthusiasts, take a look at this book!

This is a beautifully illustrated picture book. It starts off explaining the evolution and anatomy of dragons. Then it goes onto describe how dragons breathe fire in different colours.

The reader is then taken on a journey to learn about different families of dragons across the world as well as dragons from history.

Finally it talks about their habitats, their language as well as The World School of Dragons.

It is a really creative book and would be a good resource for teachers looking to inspire children with descriptive writing about dragons.

I absolutely loved this beautiful book by Charlie Mackesy.

I received it as a gift in 2020 by one of my pupils but I only managed to retrieve it out of storage recently. Shortly after watching the short film I decided to read it. (Normally I'd always read a book before watching the film!)

I was really moved by the film and the book was equally moving and humorous in the same measure.

A book about hope, despite setbacks and worry.

I know that many probably reviewed this book back at the start of the pandemic. But the message of this is important across time.

It follows a little girl who is making a rainbow. She comes across sadness and worry and misses her friends along the way.

Although restrictions have been eased. I think this will continue to be an important book to read to and with children.
