Update for parents 🔽

Since 1st September 2026, updates to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework have come into effect across England. The revised framework introduces a number of important changes, with a particular focus on children’s safety, wellbeing and healthy development.

At YMCA Fairthorne Group Nurseries, we are pleased to confirm that our existing practices already align with these updated requirements. The changes reinforce approaches that have long been part of our commitment to providing safe, nurturing and high-quality early years education and care.

To find out more about the changes, see what we are doing, and ways to implement these changes at home, read our blog - https://ymca-nurseries.org/early-years-foundation-stage-changes-september-2026-supporting-childrens-safety-sleep-and-healthy-development/

Hi everyone 👋

My name is Angela, and I am so excited to get stuck in as manager of YMCA Hounsome Fields Nursery.

With over 20 years of experience in childcare, I am passionate about helping children learn, grow and thrive through play. I have always had a love for supporting children and their families, particularly those with additional needs.

I believe that the best learning happens through fun, exploration and a little bit of mess, and I am dedicated to creating a safe, nurturing environment where children can build skills that last a lifetime. All good days end in messy clothes!😊

Outside of the nursery, I enjoy gardening, taking long walks with my dog, and crocheting animals, so keep an eye out for some handmade creations around the nursery! 💜👀

Work has started on the garden space, and we love it already.

It's going to be a spacious open space for children to play, learn, and thrive. Outdoor learning is a massive part of YMCA Fairthorne Group, and we are so pleased to be bringing this to Basingstoke!
