A different kind of Thursday at Butterflies Childcare today! 🦋💛
Usually, it’s just 1 little 🦋 with me, but today we welcomed two new butterflies for their settling-in sessions, ready to join us in September. And what a lovely session it was! 🥰
Both newbies thoroughly enjoyed exploring the resources, getting to know the space and having fun in our outdoor area. My existing 🦋 absolutely loved having some company and was super friendly and welcoming — it was lovely to see! 🥰
For me, settling-in sessions are about so much more than simply getting used to a new environment. I want every child who comes through my door to feel genuinely welcomed, safe, valued and at home. My setting is their little home-from-home, and building that sense of belonging from the very beginning is so important and today couldn’t have gone any better. 🏡🦋
Starting childcare and leaving your little one with someone new is such a big step for both children AND parents, so being able to see what they’re doing, with photo updates show parents just how they’re settling and those little happy moments can provide so much reassurance at what might feel like an anxious time📸💕
I already have a feeling these two little butterflies are going to fit into our setting beautifully and enjoy our adventures. 🦋🦋
One of the things I love most about being a childminder is having such a wonderful mix of ages together — from around 12 months right through to 8 years old. 🥰
Having different ages in one home-from-home setting brings so many opportunities for children to learn from one another, develop friendships, build confidence, practise kindness and naturally develop their communication and social skills. Older children can enjoy being role models and showing younger ones the ropes, while younger children benefit from watching, copying and learning from those around them. 🌱
I’m excited to see these new friendships develop and watch our little Butterflies family grow! 🥰
