What type of footwear is suitable for D of E?

We ask that all our students wear walking boots 🥾 for their final expedition.
Students will be walking a significant distance on rough terrain with large rucksacks. This increases the chance of sprained ankles compared to your average daily walk.
With this in mind we will not allow students to wear trainers and ask that all walking shoes/boots offer ankle support.
Students are given the option of borrowing boots from school.

It’s not long until our Bronze qualifying expeditions kick off. After some interesting meal choices for the practice expeditions we thought we’d put out a reminder to students and parents of what would be suitable meals.
Meals need to be lightweight, in durable packaging, must not need refrigerating, and lunches need to be ready to eat (stoves will not be used).

These ration packs are a great idea and some can even be eaten cold for lunch. There are lots of different brands so it’s easy to find something you like.

The meeting on Monday is for students on the first D of E practice expedition to collect their equipment. Before attending the meeting students need to know what they need to borrow. Below is a list of items available to borrow. If students have their own tent, rucksack etc the D of E staff will need to see it and check it is suitable for the expedition.
