Help Us Create a Library Our Children Will Love ✨📚
We’re excited to launch a major school and Pilton Community College PTA project to transform our current school library into a vibrant Hub of Reading — a warm, welcoming and inspiring space where pupils can relax, explore and develop a lifelong love of books.
📸 Take a look at our current library space and our exciting vision for what it could become!
Our goal is to create a cosy, modern environment featuring: -
📚 New and engaging books
💺 Comfortable seating and reading areas
💻 Kindles and Chromebooks
📖 A simple automated booking system to make the library accessible and enjoyable for all students.
At a time when reading for pleasure is at a national low — with only 1 in 3 children aged 8–18 choosing to read for enjoyment — we believe creating the right environment has never been more important. A strong reading culture improves literacy, confidence, wellbeing and achievement across every subject area, plus 2026 is National Year of Reading!
💛 Thanks to the incredible support from our school community, we have already raised an amazing £6,000 through recent PTA events.
To fully bring this vision to life, however, we now need to reach our £10,000 target.
Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help us create a space where children can discover new stories, feel inspired to read and enjoy learning for years to come.
Please support our upcoming fundraising events or donate directly to our Library Fund using the link below: -

Thank you for your continued support — together we can create something truly special for our students 💙and a space at the heart of the school to be truly proud of ❤️

Our Gateway class are learning about Devon in WW2, as part of their topic learning relating to 'The Amazing Story of Adolphus Tips' by Michael Morpurgo. They are exploring how the Burrows and the North Devon coastline were used for D-Day preparations and how radar was used at Northam.
The group had a windy but fun-packed day exploring the local area and ended the afternoon with some outdoor team games on the beach.

Some of our Year 11 GCSE Art Students have a selection of fabulous photography displayed in the 'This is Me!' Documentary Photography Open 2026, currently being held at Barnstaple Museum.
The Documentary Photography Open 2026 is an exhibition of photographs sent in by the public in response to the theme, This is Me!
The theme asked the public to explore who they are, as people living in North Devon today. In a world that is constantly changing, where people are constantly moving, the public were invited to reflect on what makes them unique.
The exhibition is running from now until 20 June 2026 and for further information, please visit the website by clicking here: https://barnstaplemuseum.org.uk/whatson/this-is-me-documentary-photography-open-2026
We think you'll agree that the photos are both stunning and thought-provoking. ❤️📷

🌟 Pilton Year 1 Multi Skills Festival 🌟
Yesterday, students from across the Pilton Learning Community came together for the exciting Year 1 Multi Skills Festival 2026! 🎉
Held outdoors at Pilton Community College, the event saw over 100 children enthusiastically take part in a variety of activities designed to develop agility, balance, and coordination. It was fantastic to see so much energy, teamwork, and enjoyment on display! 💪⚽
A special mention goes to our Year 7 Sports Leaders, who supported their very first event as part of their sports leadership training. They were a credit to the school, showing maturity, professionalism, and patience while working with the younger participants. 👏
Well done to everyone involved for making the day such a success! 🌈
