Crossing the 10s/100s boundary can be tricky. But using concrete apparatus to exchange the tens and ones is really helpful.

Today’s fun. “Camping” in the pop up tent and Teddy Bear’s Picnic (we baked some mini cupcakes and made our own jam sandwiches too.
The Summer Holidays are upon us! How is it feeling in your house?
The wet weather has certainly put a bit of dampener on ours….so I’ve been trying to think of good things to do with four kids of varying ages that is not going to cost lots of money.
So far I have come up with:
Baking - biscuits, cupcakes, pizza.
Art - cut out from old catalogues and magazines, chalk on the pavement between rain showers, macaroni jewellery, making a village from all the Amazon boxes we have lurking!
Den building - blankets and cushions and sheets
Movie afternoon - pull the curtains, get some treats, grab a nap if possible while they watch a film!
Dancing in the rain!
Building a fort outside to keep dry, or pop up a quick pitch tent if you have one and make cosy with blankets and books.
Put on our waterproofs and just get out for a walk in the weather!
Open a “shop” with treats that they can “buy” throughout the day - good for maths skills.
Indoor campfire with dried sticks or use your imagination- share stories (books or made up), toasted marshmallows, sing songs
Bird watching - put some seeds and a shallow bowl outside the window for birds to come to. Make fat balls. Print a bird identifying sheet and get the binocs out!
Bug hotel - any old garden junk piled up can become a luxurious hotel for the local wildlife
Mud pies! Anything goes….just don’t eat it!
I’m sure there are many more, but hopefully that’ll keep us going for now. I’m off to put the beach tent up this afternoon…some snacks, books and camping role playI think! ⛺️

Be the voice in their head ❤️
Words make a difference…
Because when you have dyslexia, or any kind of learning difference, the most supportive schools and teachers are those that believe in encouraging and nurturing our strengths rather than just shaming us for what we can’t do.
