🌿☀️ Outdoor Learning Day at Lampard Community School! ☀️🌿

On Thursday 21st May, all students took part in Outdoor Learning Day, a global movement that encourages children to play and learn outdoors. 🌍🍃

It was fantastic to see everyone making the most of the fresh air and open spaces. Science lessons explored nature and the world around us 🔬🌱, English inspired creativity through observation and discussion 📚✏️, and PE brought plenty of energy, teamwork, and fun ⚽🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️.

A wonderful day of hands-on learning, exploration, and enjoyment in the great outdoors! 🌳😊

📣🎬 Calling All Upper School Students! 🎬📣

Heddon class are hosting a movie fundraiser on Friday 19th! 🎉

Students can choose between Finding Dory 🐠 or How to Train Your Dragon 🐉.

🍿 Heddon will be selling popcorn, sweets and a range of drinks 🥤🍬

If your child would like to attend, please can they bring in a couple of pounds for tickets and snacks.

Heddon are looking forward to seeing all Upper School students! 😊

🌟 Badgers Class had an incredible day at Dunster Castle as part of Learning Outside the Classroom for Humanities! 🏰

They explored the castle's exterior, spotting arrow slits, the eerie oubliette, and learning why there is no moat. They even had a go at breaking down the castle door with a battering ram! 💪

Inside, volunteers shared fascinating insights into medieval life, including the foods people ate and how dried lavender was used to mask smells and keep away fleas and lice 🌿. Badgers also learned that animals sometimes wandered into the dining hall to eat scraps – and leave a mess behind! 🐾😆

What a fantastic way to bring history to life!

🏕️ Middle School Residential 🌞

Students slept well and woke to a sunny day! Some helped set breakfast 🍽️ (cereal, toast, pain au chocolat 🥐) before preparing packed lunches and heading to a nearby lake 🌊.

Wearing helmets, waterproof coats, and life jackets, they chose kayaking 🛶 or an inflatable raft. They worked brilliantly as a team, exploring the lake and playing games together 🤝. After a picnic lunch 🧺, they returned to St George’s House for quiet time.

Later, they headed to the beach 🏖️ to play games, build sandcastles 🏰, and search for shells 🐚. Roast chicken dinner and chocolate cake 🍗🍰 were enjoyed, followed by relaxing activities and a peaceful bedtime 😴.

🎶🌍 Deer Class enjoyed a LYFTA lesson about Diversity, Equality and Inclusion called “Music is my social tool.”

Deer met Izandra from Brazil 🇧🇷, who grew up in the slums and was chosen to play in a children’s orchestra. She now teaches others how to play instruments 🎻. They also looked at Brazil on Google Maps 🗺️ and discussed its location and climate.

Later, Deer class worked with Small Town Jones 🎵 to create their own song about their likes, trying different instruments and enjoying making music together 🎶.

🔙 Throwback to the Middle School Residential! 🌞🌊

After arriving at St George's House and settling into rooms, students enjoyed a picnic lunch before heading to Putsborough Beach for surfing and bodyboarding 🏄‍♂️🌊. Despite windy conditions, everyone embraced the challenge and had a fantastic time on the waves!

Back at the centre, they helped clean equipment before enjoying dinner 🍝🍰, followed by an evening of pool 🎱, table football ⚽, volleyball 🏐, games, colouring 🎨, and relaxing with friends.

Throughout the residential, students were a credit to themselves and the school, showing courage, teamwork, and respect to staff and instructors. 👏⭐
